Apparently there is/was a classic out today and will be all week .
Are they cleared through to Inverrurie? It looks like this path is a HST: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/G10199/2018/11/27/advanced (Timed for 100mph max / Diesel locomotive, trailing load 324 tonnes)Apparently there is/was a classic out today and will be all week .

Thanks. I knew that they would eventually run through to Inverness, just didn't know that they had already gone north of Aberdeen - though it makes sense for the busy Inverurie/Dyce to Edinburgh services to get the boost in capacity. They've been to Inverurie previously and will run Aberdeen to Inverness at some point. The previous runs to Inverurie would have been the refurbished set.
I believe LNER (or predecessor) have run Inverness-Aberdeen as a diversionary route when the HML has been undergoing engineering work.Thanks. And Mk3 LHCS has run, most recently with the CS diversions.I believe LNER (or predecessor) have run Inverness-Aberdeen as a diversionary route when the HML has been undergoing engineering work.
True. Though I more meant that I didn't know that the crew signed that way rather than the rolling stock being physically cleared.I believe LNER (or predecessor) have run Inverness-Aberdeen as a diversionary route when the HML has been undergoing engineering work.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but branding-wise, what does the '7' in 'Inter7City' refer to?
There are seven settlements that are officially recognised as Cities in Scotland- Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. The Inter7city services connect these (though none of the five routes from Edinburgh to Glasgow is included in Inter7city)Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but branding-wise, what does the '7' in 'Inter7City' refer to?

Does anyone know if HA26 is likely to be on the 0907 off Aberdeen in the morning?
I remember reading at the launch of Inter7City that Scotrail did need DFT permission to use the brand.Presumably it's also different enough from "InterCity" that they don't have to cough up to HM Government to licence its use, the rather silly situation that caused the loss of this branding in England.

Power cars were 43179/43033 unrefurbished stock don't know the numbers.Understand its now should be a classic HST set as of this week.... Should do 0530 Edinburgh Aberdeen then drops onto 0907 EX Aberdeen....
Does any body know the HST Power cars & formation that worked on Monday 26th November on 0530 Edinburgh Aberdeen then did 0907 EX Aberdeen to Edinburgh.....

Got the numbers nowThank you nixer10......
If anybody does know the formation that would be fantastic.....

Probably a silly question so excuse me if it is but will a couple of hundred people and their luggage down the back affect how you notch up/down compared to doing so on the empty training train.
I'm assuming 200 or so people and their luggage will add a bit of weight but will it make much of a difference?
The refurbished set (s) won't be going anywhere near Inverness, the depots on the east coast run are already pretty much trained on it so would make sense to keep it running Aberdeen to Edinburgh.
Is the braking on a 4/5 car HST that much worse than a DMU or could Scotrail apply for a dispensation to allow DMU limits to be used, I thought HSTs were allowed to use the higher limit when there were split limits anyway?
Right, but that would require an amendment to the SA to allow operation with a single power car without an unchecked run, would it not? (And I have no idea how hard it would be to get such an amendment made to the SA?)
HSTs have been cleared to use the Aberdeen-Inverness route since 1978 - picture of 254002 on the first run in April that year at Huntly.

I think the Sunday southbound Highland Chieftain used to run via Aberdeen on a regular basis in its early days. Certainly I went this way when heading to York one weekend in September 1984.
As far as I'm aware, we've been told that the 'classic' sets & the 'Inter7City' sets (or currently, just a set...) won't be separated. I've seen diagrams & they don't specify which HST is booked - just that it's booked for a 4 coach HST.
Anyway, Inverness crews will still need training on the refurbished sets..
Got the numbers now
44004
42012
42013
41010
I've seen diagrams with 1x HST/4 and 1x HST/4C.
Wonder if that's how the diagram specifies classic or Inter7city set? I was definetly told by someone 'in the know' that there wouldn't be separate diagrams for the 2 types - maybe that's changed?
Well who knows and I'm probably including scotrail in that.
