Wouldn't hold out much hope of refurbs coming to inverness plan is to operate them between Glasgow and ediEdinbu to aberdeen before even considering them for Inverness runs we won't see a refurb in service till next year easily

Interesting. In that case the priority on the HML just now must be to get the Classics running regularly and reliably. IF it's a conscious decision by Scotrail to concentrate on the Classics working this route rather than mix-and-match with Refurbs, it's probably quite a good idea. Get through this summer with Classics, then worry about the Refurbs later.

Why do you think that? All the evidence points to the contrary. Do you have some other information or is it just faith?

Neither really, the latter is increasingly on the wane!

Before Set 3 was even released and travelled north it was said that sets 4 and 5 weren't far behind. Then Set 3 came north and Set 4 was said to be nearly there or something similar.

How long can something be "nearly there"?

Don't misunderstand me - you are probably totally right and it's wishful thinking rather than an actual reflection of progress, but it's been variously: "not far behind", "nearly there", "imminent", whatever for what seems like an utter lifetime!

What makes you say that?
Because every time a set is ready to leave Wabtec, there is always a technical problem with one of the power cars and I feel that they should be given an MOT service before they are sent to Doncaster to collect the refurbs.

Back in reality, the train's waiting for it's path to Scotland this weekend, rather than there not being any sense of urgency.

Given how far behind the programme is then waiting till the weekend rather than bringing it North as soon as it is ready does show a lack of urgency

It also seems like Wabtec doesn't want to let go of all its hard work.
And dearly want to hang on to it as much as possible.

But I may be wrong but by getting rid of the set as soon as possible would free up space at Wabtec?

Right, just drive out onto one of the busiest routes in the country without a path...

What part of "the train's waiting for it's path" wasn't clear in the post you quoted?

This isn't Thomas the Tank Engine or a model railway. Trains can't just run to where they need to be willy-nilly.

How long has it been waiting for a path for? It's in tip-top condition, ready for action and it's JUST a path holding it back? Maybe an "imminent" path?

The train could be given the some path as the last time, just on a different day!

You may have noticed that not all trains run on all days. If someone else has a conflicting bath, then ScotRail/Wabtec/whoever can't have it. And I imagine that Network Rail charges for booking them, so quite understandable that they won't have blocked out a path every day for the next 6 months!

Plenty paths available, just no will on the part of Wabtec/Scotrail to do anything other than the easy option.

Agree on the paths part, maybe they do not have a driver available to drive it? Sure it's ROG doing the transfers and they are usually able to do anything given notice but they may have no spare drivers for during the week for the requested moves, only weekend maybe?

If thats the case why was the set not delivered last weekend.

Really, in the grand scheme of things a three or four day delay isn't going to be the end of the world so why rush things?

As stated in the thread, one of the power cars had a compressor fault.
