EMT have no services to/from London because of damage to the overhead wires at St Albans

Virgin Trains East Coast have not granted ticket acceptance for EMT customers
While it may not be wise to encourage additional passengers onto a route which will already be very busy, they won't legitimately be able to charge excess fares; any customers charged an excess can quote this document: http://www.atoc.org/clientfiles/files/ACOP015v3 - PIDD (2).pdf
During disruptive incidents passengers should not be discriminated against on the basis of operator and efforts should be made to deliver the same high standards to everyone. This includes passengers travelling on TOC-specific tickets who have been re-routed onto another TOC’s trains because of disruption

It appears EMT are recommending traveling via Birmingham from this on the website.

Customer Advice:

Your Advance purchase ticket may be used on other trains, than booked on the affected route.

Off peak tickets may be used on other trains, than booked on the affected route.

If you have a ticket dated for travel today and decide not to travel you may use your ticket to travel tomorrow instead.

Unfortunately because of disruption on other routes as a result of Storm Doris there is very limited alternative routes available.

Other train operators will accept East Midlands Trains tickets.

Sheffield, Derby & Leicester to/from London Euston via Birmingham.

These arrangement will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers.

We are sorry for the disruption to your journey today.

I have heard of at least four widely spaced wires damage this morning - no idea if any or all are weather-related. Tree down on the "main" (according to radio) Reading to Guildford line (perhaps the other Reading to Guildford routes are still OK!?).

The OBS on my Redhill to Victoria train this morning claimed that delays were occurring owing to one platform at East Croydon being out of use. RTT, however, shows all platforms having normal regular use.

Yes but both of those didn't state how long the delays would be and how long disruption will last

Are VTEC expected to suspend all seat reservations today?

Am helping a family group who have reserved seats for an early evening service from Kings Cross.

My daughter and children were due to travel today from Warrington to Penrith and she has basically been told there's no trains at the moment and they have no idea when there may be trains running again so they advised her to go home.

Seat reservations are in place on most services if you chose to travel on an earlier or later service then you obviously won't be guaranteed a seat

What time is the train?

Blanket 50mph speed restrictions have been applied on certain routes including the following:

Chesterfield - Sheffield - Doncaster between 11:00 and 18:00
Cheadle Hulme - Crewe/Congleton between 11:00 and 15:00
Crewe - Kidsgrove between 10:00 and 16:00
Between Birmingham New Street and Northway (Ashchurch)/Heyford/Wichnor Junction (South of Burton-on-Trent)/Nuneaton/Lichfield/Congleton (Affecting Bristol/Oxford/Derby/Leicester/Lichfield and Manchester routes) between 10:00 and 16:00
Eastleigh - Basingstoke/Romsey between 12:00 and 15:00

Further 50mph blanket restrictions are proposed for Chesterfield - Wichnor Junction, Derby - Nottingham and Nuneaton - Peterborough from 11:00. I believe that the 50mph restriction is already widespread or shortly to be implemented across the whole London North Western area, which includes some of the routes noted above.

What time is the train?

Around 8pm but I'm not sure exactly which.

Looks like VTEC twitter are saying no seat reservations apply today :(

2 hour delays takes us beyond 1200 already.

Definitely extremely windy here in East London. I was next to the Royal Docks earlier, an exposed location, and water was spraying over the side! :o Never seen that before! The DLR is quite exposed down there (most of the section between Prince Regent and Gallions Reach) so there may be disruption on there.

Meanwhile, I was looking at the 1H41 1155 Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone service, which my uncle is booked on. It appears that Chiltern have set its booked arrival at Marylebone to be 1438, and showing it taking an hour to go from Neasden South Junction to Marylebone :o  (due to pass Neasden South 1338). Normal arrival time is 1341 at Marylebone.

(Taken from Tyrell):

9S44 (06:43 Euston - Edinburgh) has come to a stand again with loss of overhead power. Train currently near Hartford with 250 customers on board.

1A20 (09:47 Liverpool -Euston) 390125 also stands Hartford with loss of overhead power.

Fault of loss of overhead power has been traced to a 'feeder problem from the National Grid'.

1A20 (09:47 Liverpool -Euston) 390125 & 9S44 (06:43 Euston - Edinburgh) 390148 both require rescuing.

Would have thought the advice "do not travel unless absolutely necessary" would be pertinent today.

A pointless warning, I always think - virtually everyone thinks their particular journey is necessary and will escape problems. Leisure travellers will probably be doing so based on existing arrangements and will not want to change them. Employees will almost all need to continue with their normal regime. Perhaps a minute number of people will have the luxury and will to change their plans.

They are hoping to reintroduce a normal timetable by that time so it may not be too bad by then all will depend on how the peak time copes

At least the Glasgow South Western line seems to be running fine for those heading up North.

The 10:00 Glasgow Central to London Euston (221110) is currently diverting over the GSW route and will terminate upon arrival of Preston.

I have heard there is a blanket 50mph being imposed over a lot of the SWT network.
