I’d just read it as the maximum load it is suitable for is a laptop. You’re by no means the first to post this query...
They can be used to charge phones and SWR's publicity states "mobile devices". I do it all the time. Curiously, the labels in 1st class have always said laptops only for some reason so this has merely been perpetuated.

There's 10s in the peak at Waterloo. Not a new thing.
The 10 car 158/9 is only once a day ex SAL - if I remember correctly the return working is ECS, I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will let me know! I'm just praying that the delays regarding refurbs mean that I'll still be able to enjoy proper seats on the WoE for a year or so yet!

The return working is in service, the 0850 out of Waterloo. There is a 10-car on a Saturday now too; 0921 from Salisbury and 1120 from Waterloo.

Weekdays - 0851 Waterloo to Salisbury
Saturdays - 1120 Waterloo to Exeter (158s come off at Salisbury)

I don't see any reason for "laptops only". Mobile phones and even tablets typically draw far less power than laptops.

This has been pointed out a few times since almost a year ago. Can’t you just accept that Siemens are using the same stickers they always have since the trains were new? It doesn’t cause anyone a problem because people understand it’s a limit...

What are 'proper seats'?
Seats that provide a reasonable level of comfort.
First are going to get rid of all these at god knows what cost to the taxpayer and provide ironing boards with the the legroom reduced to midget size. An improvement apparently.

I thought all seats were staying the same except new seats in first class. only other ones to 'change' are the units being replaced with 701s which will have the ironing boards you talk about, but certainly not the diesel or desiro units.

First I had heard of it. Probably because I've never been on a South Western train.

450041 has now joined the fully refurbished trains. So I see they’re now already converting the partially refurbished into the finished products.

I have also noticed a ‘Toilets this way’ sticker above the entrance into the new First Class despite it being on the end on the train. Bit of an oversight there.

The seats in the 450s are staying the same. The standard class seats in the 442s, 444s and diesels are staying the same Where the 1st class seats are changing it's in order to increase the number of standard class seats. There aren't any other changes to seats. The number of replacement seats is modest.

Looking at the numbers in the franchise agreement, and experience so far of converted 450s and 444s, I don’t think there’s any evidence of a reduction in standard class legroom either. Obviously no one has been on a 442 yet...

The legroom in the 450s is the same as it's ever been. In fact in 75% of the train the seats remain in exactly the same position. The remaining 25% has had changes due to the relocation of 1st, but the seat spacing is the same as in the rest of the train. I really don't like the new 1st Class, but that's another matter

The legroom in the ex first class bit of a refurbished 444 is excellent, as I recall was the alignment with the windows, a good coach to aim for if you have long legs. However from my (6’2) experience, the legroom is good.

Yes, I mentioned earlier in the thread that I thought the group of 8 standard class table seats adjacent to the first class partition is possibly slightly more spacious than the rest of the train...

One change I have spotted on the 450s is the Priority Seats - they were always a pair but now have a one inch gap between them. I thought it was in preparation for the First Class seats moving to behind the cabs but even the fully refurbished units have this gap.

I think you're right.

Good afternoon all. :)

I have already posted this in the Class 442 thread, but it makes sense to post it here also.

I have found online an actual picture of the interior of a refurbished Class 442.
