We heard it wasn't going to run today so we bailed out and went to Brighton and back on a 442 instead. Hey, it's still Mk 3s ;)

Now to get a refund on our tickets...

(I intend to try again next week personally)

Probably for the best if it goes to DRS, as it will be kept in good condition. Also it will be available for charters and extras for TOC's. I do wonder what will happen to the DVT as DRS wont use it at the moment hence why it isn't on the charter on the Saturday.

So, after much thinking about it, I've decided to have another go at having a ride on it :D. It will be on Thursday, Coventry to Euston, in First ;) (this bit still had the cheapest First Advances of £15.50 still available, also Standard at £7.25)

I am wondering if they will keep the DVT so it can be used with 90034 on WCML charters or to cover for GA's overhauls.

Adam :D

Or the DFT offer to pay...
(how many marginal constituency's would benefit?;))

Do they have the brain cells to connect those dots though?

Looking forward to this now, roll on Friday!

Not sure on that, I assume its better than those in storage at Long Marston though :?:
Found a photo of it (taken in May) - https://www.flickr.com/photos/90265...p8K-o2kKEX-piZEVG-nYKfYH-ow25Ks-oePcCm-ovPzgB

It is in better condition than those at Long Marston, but still might not be at operational standard, all depends on the insides of the thing. If its intact and working it only needs a lick of paint but if there's things needing doing with it its better to have the WB64 DVT which would need 1 modification and a paint job. But the paint would be needed for the whole set as I don't think DRS would want it rolling round with virgin stickers.

82101 has been off lease for about two years now (late November 2012) since Virgin returned it to Porterbrook. It was in operational condition at that time as a standby for the Pretendolino set, but had not been used in a while, and I believe that its last act before going off lease was to swap bogies with 82126, which had suffered some fairly severe wheelflats, so the bogies at least would need some work.

Why don't they use it to cover for the current voyager which is currently replacing a pendolino which has recently been severely over crowded on the Euston, Rugby, Coventry, B'ham International and New Street diagram. Surely that's why virgin have it in the first place!?!???!!!?

So it is 390013 doing it today. Know I shouldn't have gone for the second attempt after the disappointment 2 weeks ago... :P. I still went, in order to not waste the ticket. Oh well.

Is it possible to tell on RTT whether it's the Pretendolino or not?
Nothing allocated yet...
Interesting question though, they caused over 100 delay minutes stepping up sets at Euston last night (no idea if vice Mk3 set involved) wonder if that is more or less than when they use the Mk3s.
