Yep for definite it's so we can get more high speed braking in to prepare the brakes for the dynamic braking tests on Thursday night
Is it planned to do the afternoon return from Bletchley in the near future?

Both are shown as runs as required but one will be made firm before morning!
There will be tests every day next week and 2 sets out later in the week but not sure of the diagrams yetIs it planned to do the afternoon return from Bletchley in the near future?
This is the diagram I am wondering about. It's in the timetable until November 1622 at Crewe:There will be tests every day next week and 2 sets out later in the week but not sure of the diagrams yet
I'm of the opposite opinion: The duck-billed Driving Trailers look incongruous with the sleek cab above bufferbeam level, while IMO the TPE livery really suits the modern styling of class 68 cab ends. The DT looks fine... the TPE livery really doesn't flatter the 68s though!
If all had gone to plan it would have been used last week but it looks like it is planned to be used further into SeptemberThis is the diagram I am wondering about. It's in the timetable until November 1622 at Crewe:

Surely that must be the return diagram if it goes down to Bletchley from Manchesywr and then Carlisle in the morning?
Surely this must be the return diagram if it's been up to Carlisle in the morning and worked down from there?

There is a change of plan for tomorrow and the test train will be running to Carlisle instead of Bletchley
Cool, if it's going to Carlisle I'll see you at Beckfoot on the southbound run.
It's actually Spanish...
That run has been activated. From the post from the man in the know:
…..you will see it is Carlisle and back tomorrow. Not going to Bletchley.

Interesting that it's timed as "Class 350 EMU" and 100mph max.
There is no mk5A timing load yet. On Genius it shows as NPCCS (non passenger carrying coaching stock).
It seems to be stalled at Carnforth or RTT is not updating.Just started return run from Carlisle 78 early

Indeed, back on the original timings. On the move, approaching Lancaster as I type.
On this last test run, did the locomotives face north or south?
Presumably as neither of the routes they'll work will require reversals and there'll be little chance of sets switching route during a diagram (due to different termini at both ends) there'll be a fixed(ish) orientation of the sets when in service, too? My money is on 68s leading to the North/East when passing through Huddersfield and Leeds, to avoid the locomotives (and therefore exhaust) being enclosed at the blocks in Liverpool and at the Airport. Whereas Middlesbrough is a through station and Scarborough doesn't have an overall roof.North end, will always be the 68 facing leading from Manchester International Depot with the MK5a DT leading on the return
My suggestion would have the loco on the rear from Leeds to Manchester. In any case, the late-running- send it via Guide Bridge issue does throw a spanner in the works somewhat. Supposedly once the new stock arrives the service will be more reliable (Operationally I don’t think it will be specified which way the sets run. Take Middlesbrough-Airport for example. Loco departs Leeds on the front, so running via the Chord will be on the blocks at Manchester Airport. Quite often if services are running late they’re sent direct to Piccadilly from Stalybridge, so you’d end up with the 68 on the blocks at Piccadilly, and then the DT on the blocks at Manchester Airport.
It goes up to Carlisle from Manchester at 05:15 and leaves Carlisle at 08:12 to Bletchley.

So it does!http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stati...otDetails.aspx?stdCode=SME_SCA&fullsize=78336
I think you'll find that Scarborough *does* have an overall roof, over platforms 3, 4 & 5. TPE usually use platform 3, right up to the blocks.
