A train was cancelled last night because someone urinated on the driver's seat, passengers were told.

Hundreds of commuters were left waiting on the platform after the mysterious discovery of a pool of liquid behind the locked door of the train's driver cab.

The driver is said to have announced to passengers that someone had urinated on his chair.

The 21.52 service had been scheduled to travel from London Victoria to London Bridge.

If true it's a bit concerning the cab door was accessed. (Unless the cab door's window was slightly open and they had a very good aim...)

Am I being out of order, but if the guy that was tweeting turned up to work and someone had urinated all over his seat, would he just sit down and carry on as normal??

And it was hardly as if he was 'stuck' there are loads of trains to Clapham Jn and Balham and for other stops you only had to wait half an hour, really not the end of the world...

Well most cab doors I know of are relatively easy to access, most are either locked on a t-key/BR1 (not exactly hard to get hold of on eBay, and in the case of a t-key, even without one not its not exactly secure) or by a rotating local door cock on the outside if the train

I was thinking exactly the same thing, nobody would have carried on working in those circumstances

Aware of one driver who, due to his condition (!) was made to drive with plastic bin liners under him :(

Some unhappy colleagues used to take over from him.

I suppose it couldn't just have been a spilled can of Lilt? (Very similar in many ways and I wouldn't have volunteered to check that theory). :D

I imagine anyone without a heavy cold would have been able to tell the difference...

On New Years Day both cabs of a train I was awaiting to travel on were left fully open for almost an hour with no crew or station staff nearby for most of that time as it was the "front unit" at the departure end of the platform.

I wonder if it was just a leak in the roof? Not inconceivable given the massive change in temperature in London the other day and the stresses it could put on the body shell. If the seat has been getting damp then warmed by driver backsides that would stink after a few days.

Of course everyone always tweets the truth don't they.

In this case there is obviously something to do with a 'wet' seat that makes it 'unusable' but in reality we are none the wiser as to what that might be.

Heard it all now, while it would be unpleasent for the driver, I do find it rather amusing.

I love the quote from a Stephen Hull on that Wimbledon Guardian report

Stephen Hull, who was waiting for the train, tweeted:

"My delayed train home cancelled cos cos somebody ****ed in driver's seat.

Was a window left open?

Could it have been a station cat marking territory?

Anyway why couldn't the driver just jump in the other end and drive the thing round via Richmond?

(this is not a serious question)

Would you refuse to work a train if someone had urinated in the rear cab (guards area ?)

I can't speak for other members of traincrew on these forums, but I would categorically refuse to a take train out if the cab I had to work the train from had been soiled. It is absolutely disgusting and nobody should have to work in those conditions. Unfortunately and I really hate to say it, the most likely culprits in this case would be staff themselves. We've had an issue not so long ago with guard's urinating in the gangways of Class 458s. Now you can only work these units from the cabs and often you get little opportunity to relieve yourself. That said there is no excuse for such deplorable behaviour in the first place, and which is why I will always carry an empty bottle with me at all times. It's a horrid thing to do to your fellow colleagues and it's the passengers who suffer as a result. :(

Well biological contamination is one reason for locking a coach out of use, so if the cab iis locked out of use...

absolutely!

Its disgusting, unhygienic, it smells.

would anyone work in a small area like that for any time?

I certainly wouldn't!

I feel sorry for the passengers but no one can blame the Driver on this occasion.

I have had it happen in the rear cab that had been left open on the second man's side by previous guard, found a passenger urinating when I boarded. No go for me. Disgusting, esp when there were 2 toilets on board. Drunk people. :(

I've failed a trains previously because someone had vomited in the FC area behind the driving cab.

Can't be and shouldn't be expected to work in those conditions..... although this has given me an idea on how to get out of the last part of a horrible job!
