In Kent we have....

Pratts Bottom and Badgers Mount.
Both places are located near Knockholt station.
(Knockholt station is over 2 miles from Knockholt village.!)

Bat and Ball station

There is story that the when the East Kent Railway built the line between Eastry and Sandwich Road serving halts at Poison Cross and Roman Road. The single line sections were Eastry- Poison Cross and Poison Cross-Sandwich Road. The single line token for the latter section was engraved "POISON" "SANDWICH".

In Norfolk there's:
Nowhere - near Acle but not shown on current maps
Stiffkey - pronounced "Stuky" by some locals *

* There's plenty of places where the local pronunciation bear's little relationship to the spelling.

Ah yes - the unfortunate case of the Vicar of Stiffkey and the Lions Cage ...roughly followed by M Paline's film. .

There's the village of Turves and a nearby turf supplier who for some reason called their company Turves Turf rather than the catchier Turves Turves.

No mention of the Shropshire village of New Invention yet? Need to do better, people!

There's a few graffiti magnets out there, in particular the aforementioned Shilbottle and of course Clun.

Pity Me (near Durham, as with No Place)

Broadbottom

Penistone

In relation to the latter, some people found Gisburn rather amusing. Clitheroe similarly

I also like the names Danzey and Wootton Wawen on the line from Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon.

Of Danzey, all I can recall of it was desirokma saying it on the WMDR meet a few years ago (with local 'twang' :D)

I swear when I was in Wales once I saw a place called Pant-y-cwm, but I could never find it on a map.

Eglyswrw is a pretty good name I think.

Curry Mallet in Somerset always raised a smile.

And Curry Rivel a few miles away (of the Great Western's one-time Curry Rivel Junction). I feel that if either of these villages boasted an Indian restaurant, it would just have to be called "Curry ***** Curry".

Also in Somerset: Nempnett Thrubwell, and Cricket Malherbie

Wig Wig in Shropshire

Towdy Potts in County Durham

Ashby-de-la-Zouch is another euphonious name. My mother always referred to it as "Ashby-de-la-Zouch by the Sea" because, so she claimed, on maps it was next to the "C" in Leicestershire.

My father just pointed out that in Devon we have Chipshop and Gulliford. A dangerous mix...

Woburn Sands was previously known as Hogsty End prior to the arrival of the railway.

Egypt, South Bucks., always amuses me.
Oh spoiled it there, I thought Egypt, in Thornton, near Bradford, Yorkshire was the only one. Although nearby are Moscow and World's End!

My favourite has to be Crackpot, in upper Swaledale.

Fingringhoe always makes me smile, as does Westward Ho!'s jaunty exclamation mark.

If you thought Penistone was bad, there's always Peiness, somewhere in Scotland/

SCUNThorpe is quite a good one because they managed to sneak a rather naughty swear word in.
