I'm on a Pendolino (25 for those that care) from Euston to Manchester, and I'm sat in the FC motor coach (the section where the roof is lower to accomodate the panto). There are awful vibrations and squeaky sounds every few minutes or so, (the squeaky sounds seem to be particularly eminating from the roof panels). Is this normal in this section of the train? I've never actually sat in this area before! In perspective, the vibration and noise a far worse than any underfloor engine DMU- and this is supposed to be the 'Quiet Zone'!

I've no idea what that could be, but i've been on 2 seperate Pendos that have been making odd noises before, the first was a very very loud rattle noise, the second was a loud scream when the brakes were applied (not the noise either!)

Silly things.

Yup - that's just business as usual for a Pendo. I think the window blinds are partly to blame. The coach I've found the quietest is E in all my travels. Forget rampant rabbits, bendy-dildos are all a woman needs.

I was on a vomit the other day and the trolley dolley starting whacking the luggage rack. Most amusing.

Prior to the change of franchise (and thus the removal of the free magazine), on my frequent Voyager travels I became expert at tearing up the on-board magazine and inserting it into various gaps in the panelling to stop the irritating vibration sounds.

Funniest thing I've read all week!

There's nothing good about the Pendolini when travelling on them. They look swish on the outside, I'll say that much, but travelling on them...I'd rather avoid them entirely.

Voyagers vibrating all the time (yes, I've long since taken off my rose-tinted specs and notice it clearly now) was what gave them the nickname of 'VVV' some years ago. Granted, I've not had the problem so much on a Pendolino but when it happens it's hard to resist thumping the panel to get it to shut up.

My sentiments exactly. I have worked in Japan and they are so involved in all they do and produce. To make something shoddy and badly is not in their nature. They take it personally and see it as a reflection upon themselves if anything fails or is faulty or shoddy.

Lets just hope that the new stuff is made in Japan, you WILL notice a difference!:D

The pantagraph coaches are trailers AFAIK.

I thought the only non-powered coach was the middle coach E as this was the extra coach added to the original eight.

that loud scream would be the dynamic brakes.

AFAIK, the formations are motor, trailer, motor, trailer etc, could be wrong though.

dare i say it I really like travelling on the pendolinos, i Dont know why, i find them comfortable, sort of cosy, solid and most important, fast.
