Had my calling for Three Bridges today. Same as Spud 26th Sept start date. :D

So my experience would be :- applied in August 2015, 16th Sept Day one assesment, two weeks later day two assessment. 15 October DM interview, medical 3rd Nov 2015, confirmation in the talent pool awaiting for course start date 11 Nov 2015. Hold email 8th March advising update within 3 months.
Here we are three months later with a confirmed start date and contract via email by the end of next week.

Happy as Larry, it's been a long wait but well worth it. Almost 13 months from application to start date.

Counting the working days down until I start now. See you in 3 months Spud. :D

Nice one that's great news for you, I like hearing people getting start dates :) they seem to be giving out longer notice of courses at the moment.

Congrats mate. Not that I begrudge anyone for starting ahead of me, but does anyone have any idea how people are picked, I know it's nothing to do with distance from depot or time in the pool!?

I was told there are four main factors - When you applied, how long you have been waiting (seem the same to me), distance from depot and notice period required for current employment.

It would be nice if it was that , but I can guarantee none of those affect it as I've spoken to multiple people who have a start date where I was 'ahead' of them on all 4 criteria.

In my DMI I asked that question and was told its down to DMI score and overall suitability. Managers sift and then tell HR who to call.

I would really like to know how they pick people for medicals, it's seems that having a medical doesn't mean you progress faster.

But surely if were all being used as they say, these categories are relatively null and void as were all suitable. Id also say that my suitability via notes from a year ago would be far less effective than someone they actually remember from a few months ago.

I agree, it's just what i was told when I was asking the question to the interviewers about if successful would I definitely be offered a position and how they select people.

Woah this just gets better
Downsizing now .... Be interesting if this is made official, where the hell do the Bedford guys stand now

With Bedford being the Northern depot of Thameslink and all the new developments getting thrown up in and around the area. New commuters moving from London to it, the demand for trains to London from Bedford will only get higher not lower?

Seems really strange to be downsizing Bedford.

Noone being made redundant, just shifted around. Seems like three bridges is going to be the main depot on TL now.

So, Bedford will only keep on their more experienced drivers and the rest moved to other locations on the TL network?

No doubt this will affect the Bedford Talent Pool somewhat. Hopefully places will still get filled but at new depots instead(?).

Also depots at Hornsey, Finsbury Park and WGC. Partial closure at Kings Cross. No depot at London Bridge mentioned yet so guessing it looks unlikely.

Split TL/Southern depot at Horsham.

Apparently quite a few brighton drivers live Horsham way so may suit some of them better.
