I had a first class ticket to Bristol and was waiting at Paddington. When it was announced it was an Intercity liveried HST calling at Salisbury, Twerton Parkway(?) and London Waterloo. Unfortunately it was already completely full of people, so they brought a 319 into the platform and coupled it to the front power car. When I got on the first class compartment was a mixture of very tight airline seats and loose school-type plastic chairs around tables.

 so 43002 with a 319 then :p

I had another odd dream the other night, I was on my local SWT 455 to Kingston upon Thames, a journey which normally takes about 20 minutes, however, owing to engineering work, the service was being diverted via Thurso & Wick! but there would be no difference to the duration of the journey. The ticket inspector came on and said that I did not have a valid ticket for this revised routing, even though it was not my fault and I was given an on the spot fine of £ 1000.00 plus had to stand in a pillory/stocks thing at Georgemas Junction! (I blame the cheese and pickles I had the previous evening)

I had a dream last night, I was at Clapham Junction Station where platform ten was very busy and became closed as Flying Scotsman was due to come through. They had built another subway at the country end of the station and a new overbridge at the London end to cope with the crowds. Then a bit later, London overground were running the North/South and West London lines service by a steam hauled service with Black5s and MK1 or 2 Maroon rolling stock. In the middle roads, Tornado came in looking very dirty and rusty and her ash was removed by a bloke who pulled a big lever and the whole of the boiler/firebox open up and dropped all the clinker on the rails, where other men had to clear it all up.

I had one recently about seeing a convoy of EWS liveried class 66's and some SWT desiros near Selly Oak station. The location looked slightly different to reality because there were three tracks rather than two and there was a tunnel.

I was standing on the Glasgow bound platform at Cambuslang when a light loco pulled in. The driver bailed out stating he was out of hours and left station and caught a taxi leaving the loco standing on the main line. Anticipating a long delay to Glasgow bound services I crossed to the Motherwell bound platform and joined a Class 314 which was announced as running non-stop to Cumbernauld!

I had one last night...

Her Majesty The Queen died in Scotland and her body was being returned to london by train. It stopped at Doncaster where the driver was taken ill and a member of the Royal Household approached me and asked if i was qualified as a driver to which I said I was (not really of course) and I took over as the driver and insisted the 67 on the front be removed and a Deltic rustled up where upon I drove the whole thing back to London, entered the Underground and continued to drive all the way to Green Park station!

Maybe you have predicted the near-future without knowing it..

It is treason to talk of the death of the sovereign.

Offences constituting high treason include plotting the murder of the sovereign; committing adultery with the sovereign's consort, with the sovereign's eldest unmarried daughter, or with the wife of the heir to the throne; levying war against the sovereign and adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and attempting to undermine the lawfully established line of succession.

I am permitted to discuss the death of the sovereign as it was A) a dream I had, and B) the media often discuss "what if" events as part of their remit to inform persons

Your argument is therefore invalid

I bet HM's staff are monitoring this forum for signs of treason, and it is inevitable that me and Ark Royal will be executed for the heinous crimes we have committed.

Per my previous post, it is not an offence in UK law to talk about the death of the Monarch in this type of setting - if we discussing taking the life of the Monarch ourselves, that is another matter

Hear, hear. :).

In medieval times it was considered treasonable. I was not citing current UK law.
Though now HM is a little less stifled by EU red tape :p

I had a dream the other night, firstly I was in Northern Ireland travelling from some dingy old underground platforms somewhere in Belfast going towards the north west in a very clapped out old train, this then somehow transferred itself to travelling across Russia on the Tran-Siberian Railway????

Odd one last night - I was on a tour of the current works at Glasgow Queen St High level and despite all the works going on there, there were two stabled class 156's in platform 7!

Had you been reading the disputes part of the forum before you went to bed that night?

Which reminds me....

Here’s a photo I got showing a pair of RPIs on patrol recently.

*innocent whistle*

I Like your old Blackpool tram Pictures here. All being well I am going there in a couple months, so hopefully I may see some or even go on one.

Not quite sure why I had that dream, (Don't know how I would cope in nick, I got annoyed when doing detention at school, 1 or 2 hours usually, having to write out copious quantities of lines.)

It's odd how the brain works when you are sleeping, hence why we dream.

(I am off to work on the train soon, better keep an eye out for the boys in blue. ha ha.)

This was while ago, I'm surprised I've not posted it.

Stuck in a glass capsule on the was at various stations on the Victoria line. The trains passing were mainline sized, faster than 50mph, and didn't carry any passengers.

A strange one last night.

I was standing on the platform end at Brighton and in the distance I could see a DB liveried class 60 waiting at a signal on the Cliftonville spur (the line between Preston Park and Hove). Not sure why, as in real life this line is totally invisible from Brighton station.

Anyway, a Loadhaul liveried class 37 passes in the opposite direction with a freight, and when this has passed, the class 60, which had somehow morphed into a pair of class 20s, continues its journey.

I had one a few nights ago. I had booked a rail forum uk dinner for about 20 of us at a Loch Fyne restaurant which was odd in itself as it is a fish restaurant and I don't like fish. What was even more odd, was that I paid for the food and drink for everyone, I think that could be glassed as a nightmare rather than a dream. (That reminds me, I shall have to keep an eye out for the date of the September London meal and no, I won't be paying for everybody.!

One last night, which I knew was happening at the present day (as one is sometimes sure in dreams, of the time / date of the action), in which the Borders Railway had been extended south to Hawick: I was at that station, trying to board a train for Edinburgh. Was not succeeding; because in my dream, Hawick station was a complicated many-platform "rabbit-warren", with way after way to platforms at which trains were visible, being blocked off. I also had a suitcase which was almost too heavy to lift off the floor, let alone carry with me.

I had a Tokyo Metro dream which is a bit odd!

Flew to Tokyo for a day trip (as you do!!) to go on the Metro system, as apparently the units are rather loud if you go in the motor coach.

Anyway there were platform edge doors (Like Jubilee Extension) and the station was pretty much empty apart from a couple of people.

The time came when it was due in and it wasn't there, and then it turned up 1 minute late, so I was going to later write to the manager and complain that it wasn't on time.

The train was pretty empty and I got a seat in the motor coach, and that's all I remember!

I had some funny ones recently. One was I was in a train with an old boss of mine, not sure why, when or where though. Another was that my local station was having issues with having protected birds of prey nesting in the ceiling of the ticket hall roof and they were dive bombing passengers coming out to get their trains.!

There was an international high-speed project to make commuting from Italy to London possible on a daily basis. Genoa to London St Pancras was only 90 minutes.

I'm presuming that it was done because the UK's economy was still London-centric and house-builders ran out of land in the UK. :p

I had one last night, I was on a railtour charter train with MK1 or MK11 carriages, it was an overnight train and I was in a sort of sleeper compartment for 6 people, but my bed was accross the door, so I don't I know how other passengers were supposed to get in.This then morphed into a reclining seat, as the train veered right of the WCML near Leyland (Perhaps Farrington?) people were waving from local stations at the train. I was then offered free breakfast from the crew, tea and toast, however when the tea came it was a tiny portion of vegatable soup, I think the toast was ok. However I was charged £ 16.00 for that, gave £ 21.00 for it and got a five pound coin as change, it was gold and had Churchill's image on it!
