I strimmed some cow parsley the other day and now my arms look like they've got measles.

Are you sure it wasn't giant hogweed?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTuJQL8GBqY

It must have been in primary school that I first learned about giant hogweed, and was always wary of cow parsley because it looked similar. Then I saw the real thing *shudder*

I don't see it around as much these days, but there are still a few places locally where it can be spotted, and it's still a menacing looking plant.

I'm fairly sure it was cow parsley and I saw some there (I've had the same thing before), but it wasn't my garden and I was going at it like a man beast so I can't really be certain.

I don't think cow parsley does that, maybe you're allergic to strimmers.

I went to town on some Cow Parsley yesterday and I don't look like I have consumption. I concede with DaleCooper, you are allergic to strimmers.

I could hear a strimmer out the window for some time this morning. Glad Cowley wasn't (at least I don't believe he was), as I haven't been to Devon for some time.

I've rethought my cow parsley accusation now.
I don't know what I caught with the S. T. Rimmer but it didn't like me. I'm thinking Mr Cooper may be correct (although also slightly silly at times).

Quite an unusual view today.
This ones got a leaky hooter. He makes a strange wheezy honking noise when he breaths in to make some noise, I find it very amusing.

With the rubbish weather we've been having recently I now have rake of 20 16 ton wagon kits now completed. My youngest daughter (aged 21) is now painting them. All the terraced houses (42) are now finished as well.

At this time of year I'd rather spend our evenings / weekends in the garden / park but summer will be back soon :)

I think I might send our 21 year old up to you for some lessons in usefulness.
Are you weathering them (the wagons, not the children)?

Yes and adding coal.

It takes a lot more courage to weather locos as they are so much more expensive!

21 year old has gained a 1st in Physics so we are very pleased and very proud.

Does anyone have any plans for the summer?

I've got my annual leave coming up soon, I can't wait to relax for a couple of weeks and get back out on the rails again.

We've already had ours up here. It was weekend before last.

Haha. I was there for summer once. It was on a Thursday afternoon I think, the kids rescued a starfish from a seagull on the beach.

Sounds great, we're meant to be going to Croatia for a couple of weeks but deciding to go and actually organising it all are two distinctly different things. I have had a couple of minor meltdown moments recently.

My doctor says I've got two weeks to live, I asked him for the first two weeks in August.

It quite often rains then though.
I hear Transylvania is quite nice that time of year. If you need a lift I could probably strap the old coffin onto the roof?

Summers come and gone. Quite chilly this evening and I've got my jumper back out and wearing it to keep warm. How I do love the British summer.
