Does anyone know if 717 doors will open automatically at NCL stations like they do on the 700s in the core?

I think LU arranged a derogation against the latest standards which should have applied to 2009 and S stock when new. Something about reducing the period the door closing alarm had to operate for, they reckoned a longer period led to more people being caught in the doors...
It's the volume that annoys me rather than the duration.

Any other drivers going to miss having their own private spacious cabin for their journeys home in the back cab of a 313 ? I know I am.

Why would this change with a 717?
Because the back cab on these newer units is pokey. You can swing a cat in the back cab of a 313

I probably should clarify, I mean the back cab vesitbule as opposed to just the driving cab section.

I assumed being a fixed formation unit the cab was the same size either end. Is this due to the emergency exit ramp?
The 313 are a little unusual /old fashioned in that they have a vestibule behind the drivers cab with the driver only side doors and door to the passenger area. On the 717s there is no vestibule, the side doors are in the cab area level with the back of the seat and then there is the escape steps too.

Not having 2 very large non passenger areas in the middle of a 6 car will add a lot of space and the smaller cab will also increase passenger space.

SWT 455/7s probably the simplest option as they can go back to 3-car if they take the 508 vehicle out again (I assume?) I imagine the 456s will be binned when the 701s are introduced.

Though ideally some effort should be made to keep much newer 458s and 707s in service. Here's hoping the SN 455s get replaced by them at some stage.

No need not to have them as 4 car units. There's no stations where 4 cars (for 313routes) don't fit - Since they stopped going to Ore,... Of course that would limit 6 cars on Football Specials to Lewes...

This works off ETCS right? So probably not if that's true.

Yeah but can they do 8? I'm assuming there's currently some doubling up in that area, I don't know it that well.

Depends on the SDO. And Lewes is a 6 car Platform for Terminating. (If you're talking about 313s on the coast).

Hopefully there should be spares off the GN 313s to keep our old girls going into 2020s!

This was posted by James Welham on Anglia Gen yesterday afternoon.

Afternoon All,

5G84 1234 Moorgate - Gordon Hill
5J85 1355 Gordon Hill - Moorgate
5G86 1435 Moorgate - Gordon Hill
5E87 1517 Gordon Hill - Hornsey EMUD

Next Friday (28th), two additional passenger trains are planned to operate as follows using Class 717s:

5K91 0959 Hornsey EMUD - Moorgate
5G92 1035 Moorgate - Finsbury Park
*2G92 1049 Finsbury Park- Gordon Hill*
5E93 1117 Gordon Hill - Hornsey EMUD

5K95 1411 Hornsey EMUD - Moorgate
5G96 1435 Moorgate - Finsbury Park
*2G96 1449 Finsbury Park- Gordon Hill*
5E97 1517 Gordon Hill - Hornsey EMUD

There are additional paths overnight for more testing and commissioning visiting Welwyn, Stevenage and Letchworth A/D lines however these will only run when required by the Testing and Commisisoning department.
Are the two additional passenger trains that are scheduled to operate using Class 717 units still planned to run today as none of the driver training runs have operated during this week?

Yes. Moorgate to Gordon Hill non-stop. Then it will go back empty and park up, having worked so hard!

That looks like it might have been cancelled.

There is a 2G96 1449 Finsbury Park to Gordon Hill. Calls Alexandra Palace, Palmer's Green, Winchmore Hill, Enfield Chase, Gordon Hill.
No idea if it'll run though.

2G92 left 17 minutes late but is running.

2G96 is 1436 from Moorgate to Gordon Hill, non stop.
