It's the volume that annoys me rather than the duration.I think LU arranged a derogation against the latest standards which should have applied to 2009 and S stock when new. Something about reducing the period the door closing alarm had to operate for, they reckoned a longer period led to more people being caught in the doors...
Why would this change with a 717?Any other Driver's going to miss having their own private spacious cabin for their journeys home in the back cab of a 313 ? I know I am.
Because the back cab on these newer units is pokey. You can swing a cat in the back cab of a 313Why would this change with a 717?
The 313 are a little unusual /old fashioned in that they have a vestibule behind the drivers cab with the driver only side doors and door to the passenger area. On the 717s there is no vestibule, the side doors are in the cab area level with the back of the seat and then there is the escape steps too.I assumed being a fixed formation unit the cab was the same size either end. Is this due to the emergency exit ramp?

Given the reason it's there, it needs to be fairly loud... I imagine there's lots of ambient noise for it to compete with in the peaks after all. It's the volume that annoys me rather than the duration.

2021ish.... still wondering what will replace them..... 458s maybe? Converted 379s? 455s and 456s from SWT? 707s?!Wish the coastal 313s were going too
SWT 455/7s probably the simplest option as they can go back to 3-car if they take the 508 vehicle out again (I assume?) I imagine the 456s will be binned when the 701s are introduced.
Though ideally some effort should be made to keep much newer 458s and 707s in service. Here's hoping the SN 455s get replaced by them at some stage.
Does anyone know if 717 doors will open automatically at NCL stations like they do on the 700s in the core?
Yeah but can they do 8? I'm assuming there's currently some doubling up in that area, I don't know it that well.
I think you mean heritage station!
This works off ETCS right? So probably not if that's true.
I doubt it, trains through the TL core aren't even using ETCS (at the moment), are they?
They need some heavy deep cleaning for sure... but I do like the NSE branding down there, I'd rather it be preserved than ripped out.Crappy was the correct description of the NCL.
The contrast with the Crossrail platforms adjacent will be vast!
How do you think the ATO is being done if not?
