Slight changes you would make to liveries to make them nicer

I like the idea of using something other than yellow, black, and the body colour for the front of the train. However, I'd put a black window 'illusion' on the gangway door, like this...

That is rather nice, and that's coming from Mr Yellow here.

Now I wish it had the later Electrostar lamp clusters.

My "slight change" to the new livery applied to 221 101 would be to obscure the whole thing with a cloud of fog.

Where HSTs Still Scream. Kind of.
LNWR or WMR liveries - just drop the yellow ends on the door panels. They look absolutely ridiculous.

At present I respectfully disagree, but that's because they haven't yet applied the frankly crap ribbon branding which, on the Pendos, has ruined a previously sleek design.

It never looked as good on the Voyagers, so I'm willing to wait and give it the benefit of the doubt, though you'd still have to drag me kicking and screaming to get me on-board one of those favelas on wheels for more than 10 minutes.

Or drop the green and have the whole front yellow? ;)

Another planet...
A waste of a post and a poor attempt at humour.
It raised a chuckle here, actually. Your post is more of a waste, I think.

To avoid the hypocrisy demonstrated above, the Northern livery would be classier if the white was replaced with black, as well as being easier to keep clean!

What do you mean that's not a slight change? It's only changing one colour! ;)

None of you have seen the new livery on 221 101 have you...?

It's got a 100% black front with a grey body.

A minor change that IMO would be an improvement would be use of a slightly brighter green for the new GWR livery.
It looks attractive in sunlight, but in dull conditions or under artificial light it looks very dull and dark.

(for reasons stated elsewhere, I don't think much of the interior of the 800s, but that is unrelated to the livery)

Any photoshop experts fancy a go at modifying an actual photo of an 800, or an HST, with a brighter green ?

Tried a Vivarail front on an LU D Stock yesterday:

EDIT: Added emergency exit door.

Very nice. I had to go and check to shake the "isn't that what they normally look like?" feeling.

Alas, it'd never pass without the front emergency door.
Thank you!

Might have to try and put in the door tonight.

Did the door, but it doesn't seem to look right with my Paint skills...

Honestly, if it wasn't for the... flat-ness of the colours giving it away, I wouldn't have noticed. Black lines is about all you can really see at a glance anyway :)

For me there's something incomplete with the front of the Transport for Wales livery on the 175.

3 mins in paint and I think a red border under the lights improves the look.

In keeping with the Welsh flag, I think a thin green (probably slightly darker than the one on the flag) stripe along the bottom edge would look nice. Or a red one.

In any case the new livery is miles better than any of the ATW ones. Blech.

I edited an Italian 'New Pendolino' into the Virgin Trains livery. This is more than a slight change I think though... :P

I'm not a fan of predominantly white liveries, so I've been thinking of this livery for a while but after seeing this thread I decided to try and mock it up. As I said, I'm not the strongest in photoshop, and we're probably out of the realms of 'slight changes' here, but how about an inverted Azuma....
That would be great if Virgin West Coast didn't have Pendolinos
