The faulty train was one of ScotRail's un-refurbished high-speed models, also known as a classic, the operator confirmed.

After all, is it an emergency order of Class 802 5 cars × 26 SET?The RMT have deemed it worthy of a snipe.

I'm assuming that the RMT would, of course, be fully supportive of Scotrail had a 385 failed across the station throat just before rush hour instead. After all, that would be a modern, environmentally friendly train that was the result of proper investment, and therefore above reproach.
What gave you that impression? After all, is it an emergency order of Class 802 5 cars × 26 SET?

Please condemn me elsewhere. What gave you that impression?
Of course they did, and apparently the HSTs are 50 years old now, that's pushing it a bit. Next time something happens he'll be saying that they're out of the steam age.The RMT have deemed it worthy of a snipe.

I've just been listening to Scotrail's Engineering Director on Radio Scotland and she was almost inaudible due to what sound like a rough running HST in the background.
Can you imagine if the TOC responded with comments in a similar way....The RMT have deemed it worthy of a snipe.

"This operator is calling on the RMT and Mick Cash to stop their same tired old knee-jerk bland statements. Everyone just laughs at you and the 50-year-old clichéd union response.
It is time for Mick Cash to go."
Necessary. Probably. It's a very necessary organisation but they are quite bad at being anything but constructive. If it's not shiny and new...
Necessary. Probably.
But not in its current form. Frankly they are an utter embarrassment. Maybe time for a Competition & Markets Authority investigation into their abuse of a monopoly.
(Photo shows the excessive exhaust from the power car)
Doesn't look any different to the 1980s when elderly 101s, with engines all to Falkirk, wheezed and spluttered their way out of Queen Street.
and that's an understatement!Necessary. Probably.
But not in its current form. Frankly they are an utter embarrassment. ...
Not just ridiculous but factually wrong. Today's failure was nothing to do with 50 year old kit or unrefurbished trains, but an engine that has been fully maintained by the manufacturer since it was new 13 years ago or so.and that's an understatement!
It's a shame the project has been delayed but their criticism is totally ridiculous.
Two obvious questions:
Why was the engine not immediately shut down?
Why was it running on its trip back to Eastfield?
Shutting Queen Street because of a wee bit of smoke....good grief! I wonder how today's sensitive little darlings would react if we still had a station full of 37s, 47s and other assorted locos spewing out god knows what into the canopy.
