Let's hope Northern keeps the 323s then.I bet there will some passengers unhappy as a 3-coach 331 will have a lot less seats than a 3-coach 323!

Currently a 195 is doing a diagram on that route, the 331s are currently replacing 321/322s so I don't think a date for Man Air to Blackpool services has been decided yet, the 331s will eventually be used for the Lime street and Man Air to Blackpool North service but don't forget that 323s are coming in from WMT to displace the remaining 319s. Knowing Northern, when all these units are in service, it could be anyone's guess which is used for the service.Any ideas as to timescales for 331's to be on Manchester Airport to Blackpool North?
I'm excited, only ever been on a train built in this decade in the UK once

To cut it short, earliest December 2019 for the timetable change as the 331s are meant to displace 321/322s by the end of September (which is unlikely given the delays).
If you wanted to see them soon then just go to Leeds from Manchester to see them, TPE have some of the best advances, less than £5 to Leeds from MCR/MCV. Then at least you're guaranteed a 331 on the Leeds-Doncaster services!

Believe me, I would be happy to get a pacer! I don't reside where there's Pacers, and I'm going to Sheffield and Doncaster to see and ride them before they get scrapped! They will be missed by many, but I'm sure your normal everyday commuter won't!Cool, thanks for the info!
Honestly I'm happy to see a 195 as well. Returning from the US in a couple of days, so maybe I'll get on one on my train back from the Airport!
Or perhaps I'll get a warm welcome back to Northern England with a Pacer...
Think we know which one is more likely folks!
So how come 331s will be on Man Air to Blackpool services before the 321/322s are replaced. There aren't enough units delivered yet. To be running 331s on those services AND displacing 321/22s.Yes it has, next Monday, 9/9/19.

I'm sure you're right, but if there is no date confirmed for platform lengthening then how will they displace all 321/322s by the 30th of September, as Northern state.I understood that 331/1s may start to appear on a limited number 321/322 diagrams in the coming weeks on the Aire & Wharfe lines, whilst the 331/0s were starting west of the Pennines from next week? Only when platform lengths along the Aire & Wharfe routes are extended (no date confirmed yet) will the 331/0s start to operate as 2*3 car units on selected diagrams.

Currently 2 diagrams are booked 331s between DON and LDS, there are obviously diagrams on the Aire and Wharfedale lines, I know that 321/322s operate from Leeds to Bradford and Bradford to Skipton, don't remember seeing one going to Ilkley though.

Apologies for going off topic but if you want comfortable seats and A/C then go to Essex/Anglia next time, they should be full of Aventras and Flirts with comfortable seats and brilliant A/C!Not great with luggage, also just feels so terrible and outdated.
I do completely get the novelty factor, but sometimes makes me re-evaluate my choice of place to live...
If I was to get comfortable A/C trains (such as 195/331) more often, I think that'd make me feel slightly better about staying in the North West!

getting back to reliability - there don't seem to be many staff - drivers / conductors etc that have much good to say about the 755's and the biggest complaint is that they keep 'breaking down'. Door issues and engine issues seem to be a problem. Apparently if the engines get too hot they just shut straight down and there seems to be a problem restarting them. Does it sound a similar story?!!
i dont understand why all the failures and breakdowns only started to occur once they were in service, during testing they seemed to work flawlessly
so I don't think a date for Man Air to Blackpool services has been decided yet
Yes it has, next Monday, 9/9/19.
No Worries, do you think it's likely that 331s will be running on that route for the 9th or is this unrealistic.Sorry, Denyboy, I misread your post. It's Liverpool to Blackpool North which is scheduled to get 331s from 9/9/19.

What units have been running Leeds-Doncaster diagrams this week?

There are four 331/1 on the west side at Allerton/Edge Hill (331103/04/11/12) and quite a number of 331/0 which should be available for service. My money is on it happening. There's a video on one of the 323 threads showing a press launch they had (it may have been Monday of this week) and I believe the invited were taken from Blackpool to Preston and back on a 331. Liverpool to Blackpool equals three diagrams (yes, I do think the timetable is a shade on the tight side, but that's how it is), and three units (plus, presumably, a spare) doesn't seem too many to conjure up at one go. There'd be nothing to stop them converting one diagram at a time, if they wanted, I suppose.

331 007 in service today, just left Liverpool on 2F56 0743 LIV-WGN.
