Morning all,

As the LM farewell tour has happened, how many 150s remain in service now?

I am hoping to nip up to the midlands at the end of the month, any garantees of 150s anywhere with LM?

Only guarrented 150 by end of month will be Marston Vale line. I imagine 150's will see use as required on Snow Hill lines up until timetable change but diagrams will change on a daily or weekly basis to suit requirements. From Dec the only 2 150 diagrams will be Mon-fri on New St - Hfds & Marston Vale.

Forgot to add, I believe 150's 012,015,018 & 019 have been split ready to go to new owners. 150001 is off to Eastleigh very soon. 106 is also off in next few days, that leaves 124 & 125 due to move in Dec. 105/7/9 are staying. Departure dates may have altered as i believe LM are suffering a few teething troubles with the 172's

Well that went agaiinst everything I heard yesterday because I had that 001 was going Southampton way today but I guess that that is wrong information

The remaining 150s, 105, 107 and 109 IIRC, two of them will start their new life as the Marston Vale trains and the remaining one will be working a service from BHM to Hereford

Can I just say the photos you have taken are brilliant. Thank you! I was at Dorridge when you raced through on the way to Leamington and I even got a little toot. Trainspotter

Do we know what is going to happen to the ex-LM 150's?
Much as i dislike the 150's (seating config mainly) they are still FAR better than the pacers for suburban running. I know that Northern seem to be a dumping ground (sorry, cascading....) for older units. But at least if these 150's would be a short term solution for replacing a great number of the hateful Pacers that are currently running in Manchester, until we get something new to complement the lovely 323's.

The farewell is premature for 150001 it seems as it out this morning on the 06.45 Worcester - Dorridge etc with 153354 and should finish with the 17.28 from Dorridge tonight all being well.

Yes we do. But the information is split over about half a dozen threads started before you joined the forum, so I'll attempt a short summary.

Having been rearranged into their original two car formations, the LM fleet of 150/1 and 150/2 has nearly all been split between FGW and Northern. LM will retain only the 3 x 2 car units as noted above in post #5.

Of the rest, FGW get 11 units, and Northern get 18 units.

The pair of original 3 car units, 150001/2 are currently going off lease, indeed 150002 has been at Eastleigh since the end of October. Lastly there are two orphaned carriages following accidents over the years, these have been joined as 150209, and this unit is also in store at Eastleigh.

None of the Manchester area Pacers will be withdrawn, indeed rather more will be in service following the transfer of 7 x 142s back from FGW.

Also leaving Northern are the 3 x 180s, and 4 x 156s which go to EMT.

Seems LM still need 106 as it's out with 105 again today on the 07.09 Dorridge - Kidderminster. Also, 150001 out with 153354 on same diagram as yesterday , the 06.45 Worcester - Dorridge etc.

The LM 150s are going to supplement the Pacers to increase capacity rather than replace them, which I think is the most sensible option.

A 150 should have arrived with FGW early this morning, could have been 124 though.

Any chance LM will relivery these unit to match up to the rest of there fleet ?

It would seem bizarre not to given the small size of the fleet and the use of one unit on Hereford diagrams where its in danger of looking very outdated and out of place.

London Midland are considering a repaint, which isn't promising! But the 150s need more a interior TLC as they look worn inside!

I was wondering, and hoping, if there might be a repaint into LM house colours for the three 150s that are being retained. Looks like it could be the case then.

A poster in wnxx is reporting that FGW are going to insert the two orphaned cars (currently formed up as 150209) into 150121 and 150127...

150109 went south through Rugby tonight, presumably a set swap is taking place with 150125 to enable that to depart to pastures new!

Was on 150132 for the first time last night on the 19:01 Liverpool to Wigan. Looked proper shaby inside.

Was still in Midlands livery but with Northern information posters on the walls inside. Are these going to.be a permanent fixture on my line, and if so how many of them?

RE 150+153 Diagram: The diagram finishes at Worcs SH at 18.58 the units then go to depot. 20.52 Wos - Dor & 22.33 Rtn. is the set that runs empty from Stourbridge Jct arriving at Worcs about 20.38 (previous working 18.50 Strat UA - Sbj Jct).

They are in a common pool with the other 150s, so they could turn up on any Newton Heath diagram I would have thought.
