Transfer of TPE 350/4s to West Midlands Trains (LNR)

Enjoyed a trip in 2+1 first class on a LNWR 350/4 today. Definitely worth the extra £8 for a 2.5 hour journey. Had to run down the platform though to avoid the 350/2 it was attached to. The luggage racks were also a nice change. Personally I like the outside livery although it clashes with...

Railway mishaps that occured soon after introduction to service

The Dutch Fyra/V250 trains didn't do too well and were all withdrawn within a few months. A few sustained quite severe damage to themselves just on their regular journeys from memory (partly due to snow/ice though).

LNWR service from Liverpool to Birmingham and London.

So little information available on their website either to tell you what trains they are skip-stopping stations/turning short. So hard to plan what the best thing to do is during disruption.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Seemed inevitable but confirmation now that first in service trains not due until mid-2020 https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/commuters-on-london-s-busiest-routes-facing-year-s-delay-for-900m-fleet-of-driveronly-trains-a4226831.html

SWR: Guards/RMT Industrial Action. Next strike dates: 30/31 August, 1/2 September 2019

But they are all 12 car platforms, there isn't a 10 car platform as the statement seems to suggest in any case? I'd have thought too that if the train was at the 10 car stop markers, they would be at the end of the platform too due to class 444s (so long enough for a 12 car 450) or are there...

South Western Railway disruption [11 December 2017]

No more void days. Only delay repay. Generally better for occasional travellers, generally worse for season ticket holders. I've been using Pay As You Go for the past couple of months and I will be getting less than £1 in compensation for a week of delays. (My most delayed journey was 'free'...

SWR: RMT ballot over role of guards *48 hour strike 8th/9th November*

Any speculation on what service SWR will run if the strike goes ahead?

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

Thank you. Was a nice leaving present from SWT to SWR. Especially as SWT had managed to avoid triggering it for (I think) c. 13 years.

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

Does the latest performance report mean that SWR are currently offering 5% discount on season ticket renewals? https://www.southwesternrailway.com/~/media/pdfs/passenger-charter-compensation/period-05-23-july-to-19-august-2017.pdf Can't copy the page but it shows performance standards...

Class 707 - SWT: Introduction into service

Latest SWT Twitter session suggested that they hoped them to be in service in September but answer to another question on the subject suggested they hoped to have at least one in service before then. So not really clear other than main rollout isn't going to happen for another few months...

Rail fare increase: BBC breakfast News reporting from London Waterloo

SWT have had it better than GTR but hasn't been a great year. Am keeping a close eye on the next update on their performance stats. Been hovering at threshold for season ticket discount on suburban for a while and the last period seemed very bad...

Waterloo Platform Extensions, Station Platforms and Throat Remodeling.

Website has the leaflet too with some limited info on service expected at each station. E.g. Chessington branch will be closed for three weeks and Norbiton looks shut too despite some services still going to Kingston...

New Malden station Customer Information Screens

Platforms were in relatively good condition 5+ years ago (the CIS has been there since at least 2004 I think) despite clearly not being in a state for regular use. Nothing's been done to them in the past few years so are increasingly overgrown/being broken up by vegetation/natural wear. There...

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

Comment on mainline journey times: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/533365/swf-itt-attachment-a-train-service-specification.pdf Journey times just specced for main suburban and Windsor. For the suburban times you quoted above, they seem to be...

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

All the services for the proposed times quoted are all stations stopping, doesn't seem to be any proposed changes to them (e.g. skip stopping) at any time of the day.
