If that's true that's very strange, why would you kill yourself on a train and risk needlessly injuring or killing others?
I assume a bogie problem could arise due to the tilting mechanism, the complicated nature meaning if a problem arises and it could be repaired in time and the Pendo gets shoved back into service minus a car...
Where the first 3 cars damaged?, I though the majoritity of damage occured to the rear car as it hit the platforms.
AFAIK the two cars that survived the Grayrigg derailment are being used for training purposes by Virgin.
