Thanks for that. I'm on the 11:54 from BED.
It's a bit untidy but it has been in service for 7 whole hours now!
It's an irony seeing all the approving looks from passengers who having seen the TL posters don't realise that these trains are just loaners. The cattle trucks start arriving next year.

Bombardier already know about this, I've spoken to the guys who travel around on them it's a missing audio file, should be sorted soonish.

Yeah. It was obviously something along those lines, but the question is why was it missing in the first place? Do they not check the PIS before they hand the train over?

Also, why use audio files? Text to speech voice synthesis has improved a lot in recent years. There are plenty of lightweight, open source systems they could use.

Believe is to do with the name change that was supposed to have happened in December.

Sorry if I've missed it but is there any indication where the 387s will go after TL have finished with them?

Luton Airport. Originally (like first few days) the 387s used this.

Thats certainly less of a mouthful, however they use Luton Airport for the other end of the shuttle bus on national rail website timetable enquries so that might have put a spanner in the works?

I wish they would formally rename Luton as Luton Town to make clear the distinction.

That would confuse some passengers using Luton Airport for the first time, thinking the station would be nearby the airport (like Gatwick/Manchester) rather than a bus-ride away. Ah well ;)

The track is suitable for 110mph South of Bedford not 125mph. The wires however were built for 100mph. The increased speed along with the multiple pans means the wires may not cope with the extra pressure. One pan creates a ripple, the second creates another. A third can cause the wires to move to far. To counter this the wiring set up must be different. One reason for the cost increases on the GWML is making the current OHLE suitable for trains up to 125mph and multiple pans up (ie 12 car Suburban train) at the same time.

Ahhh thank you! I completely forgot the wiring issue.

Will the 387s ever announce Parkway properly?

You'd think Bombardier could have at least managed that before they went in to service...

No Southern train can say Sydenham correctly even though Southeastern can. Compered to Sydenham, Parkway should be a doddle.

Not opening at all IS a problem, but the others are slow enough that they cause frustration and I dare say confusion/panic with some unfamiliar passengers (especially tourists).

This problem needs to be fixed, somehow, for good.

I've been on a 377 at Anerley and it took two/three minutes to open the doors. You would have thought they would have sorted this out by now - the S Stock manage it

S Stock manage it because they have trackside beacons at every station, whereas 377s only have it at a select few and mainly rely on GPS!

But then that would confuse people into thinking they'd arrived at Kenilworth Road.

Although that could be solved by renaming the latter Luton Town Nil.

Well if would make sense to have beacons in the core for every station, since it's quite like the sub-surface lines.

There's been beacons at Core stations since 2009, ie before the 377s were introduced (in fact they were needed for 377 operstion).

A pair of 387s sat down at East Croydon this morning, with 106 at the rear. Blocked platform 2 for some time, southbound.

Was a train fault, it was actually on 0724 BTN-BDM, but terminated at ECR, caused 5 min delays on 0825 and 0828 trains to LBG and 0830 to VIC.

At the moment, 10:42 and 13:12 departures from LBG are booked for 2x387 - same diagrams so same two units on both services.
