Looking forward to seeing these start service on the 11/3/19.
Will this be a full stock roll out or a semi or just a few more active preview runs?

I don't think we'll be seeing anymore introduced next week. They're still being night-tested this week and I might be wrong, but I'm sure any sign-off procedure will take a few days.

Won't be big bang. From what's been suggested on here, a couple of units will start working diagrams in the printed timetable. GTR will likely slip in a couple more each week assuming all is well. Some of the units have been stored off of the GN network too, so will need to be brought back and made ready.
From the what I know, 3-5 on the first day, increasing to 7 by end of March, then will go up by 1/2 each week until all 21 diagrams are 717s.

Person on WNXX says they will send us any info for next week as they get it. I'll relay any info I get from wnxx here.

The December timetable had the workings for 717s but obviously it never happened. I assume the plan will be to run the booked 717 services in that first, then gradually change them all.

Or perhaps the diagrams now will change?

Preview services haven't been pathed (yet) for next week so there is hope as these services will stop with service introduction. That page on the GN website said February until very recently, and obviously that didn't happen.

Or the project is on hold as the GTR only have so many people to diagram trains and drivers and they need to concentrate on the May timetable change.

Not saying it is just there are many reasons for a the paths not being imputed

does anyone Know the status of Driver training?

The person on the WNXX forum who seems quite knowledgeable about their introduction (says he works for GTR) is still saying next week for their introduction.

Do they really have to send trains as far south as Herne Hill to put them onto the GN line? I thought they could reverse at St Pancras?

Possibly to do with timing - if it were at night then the units would have plenty of time to turn at St Pancras, but at 11am there'll be Thameslink trains through the core and an ECS blocking the lines in order to do the reverse wouldn't wash. The fact that the units are coming back during the operating day suggests to me (as a layman) that they're needed quickly (otherwise why wouldn't you path them for overnight?), so could be evidence that the units are ready to go into service very soon.

I'd assume that at night they'd go via Goblin, Harringay curve and then reverse at Bowes Park, much easier than going all the way to Herne Hill.
Guess the goblin is too busy during the day.

I'm surprised they'd want to send anything other than an actual scheduled passenger service* through the core at all during the day, given how little margin for error there seems to be before things start going very wrong.

*Does freight go through the core at all?

Inter-peak there are probably enough gaps to send something through ECS; the core will only be fully utilised in the peak, right? In any case, the core itself isn't really the problem I think - it's when trains arrive at the core completely out of whack with when they were supposed to arrive. Hopefully this has bedded down a bit now. Provided the 717 behaves, its presence passing through shouldn't cause a disruption.

No freight through the core that I've ever read of; in fact aren't only 700s (and by extension before ATO hits, 717s) allowed now? Not sure what locomotives can go through for track maintenance purposes - 73s?
