I'm on /1403 and I start next week. I think they may have been an intake before my group too.

Congratulations mate. Where's the training held, Orpington? Looking forward to it? Silly question maybe

If we have to train at Orpington will we have to travel there and back every day or will they accommodate us? It'll be about an hour and a half each way for me. Not complaining as I'm happy to have the job!

In the same boat as you. It was all moving nicely and now stopped. They're probably waiting for others to pass interviews etc and then get an idea of numbers for courses. I'm sure we'll hear soon. Doesn't make the wait any easier though, especially knowing people have got start dates. If you don't mind me asking, what notice do you have to give in your current job? Been thinking that may be a factor.

I thought it was 4 weeks but is actually 2 so I soon phoned them back the same day to tell them that, just in case that did become a factor. Yeah definitely frustrating more as others are starting soon.

Does anybody know how they assign people to courses, such as alphabetical, highest scoring first or is it just purely random?

You won't be getting accommodation I'm pretty sure of that

Just spoke to HR and they haven't been in touch to arrange the medical as they are still waiting for a new batch of start dates. Hopefully they will know soon!

Apparently November is the next course, which is full, so I guess we won't be getting a medical/start date until the new year now. Here's hoping some more get released in the mean time.

I rang yesterday, and Trudy said they were in a meeting as we spoke, and that she'd phone back either next week or the week after. I don't mind if it is bext year, just would like some sort of assurance that I'll get on a course.

Very strange system, I guess with 1403 ashford, will be a new depot for thameslink so will need a fair few new drivers which makes me hopeful that we will get a start date soon, I'm guessing everything is conincodong with thameslink programme, massive improvements etc for them, so have got deadlines for certain areas.

Had a call today and booked in my medical, well chuffed as it must mean more courses have been decided on. Was told the medical is only valid for 6 months. Be patient folks I was thinking nothing would happen until next year and the call came.

Ah ok cheers mate im 1404 we did assessment day in two parts and had mmi on second day we were told we passed the tests after each stage on the day but I was told by govia 8 days after that I passed mmi and booked me in for dmi in 3 and a half weeks from now im just trying to get a rough timeline and hoping that if successful won't be sitting in a pool for ages like some poor people on here

The process appears to really differ from TOC to TOC. I think ultimately, it'll all be down to how many DI's and trainers they have as to when they assign courses. As you know, this is a huge recruitment campaign so it must be a logistical nightmare.
Good luck with your DMI mate. I found mine to be quite informal and relaxed, they get the best out of you that way.

What kinda things do they ask I printed off a load of stuff about the company but I am just trying to brush up on the things I think I will need

First thing they asked me is what I know about the company and franchise in general. Learn their key commitments and things like passenger numbers. Rolling stock is also good to research.
Also got asked what type of information you'd expect to say over the PA system. Think about what information you'd want to know if you were sitting on a train that wasn't moving and you were late for something. Have a couple of emergency situations up your sleeve too, that may come up.

For anyone who has had their medical and got a start date, how long after your medical did you get a contract through and confirmation of start date?
