They are already installed
Since my posting then!
I am going through there today so I will see if they work.

Purchased a mTicket on the Northern app for a journey involving a change at Leeds, it generates a barcode to let you out of the barriers no issues there...
...however trying to get back in 50 minutes later for my connection using the same barcode 'reject passback'!
I don't think I have ever had a ticket that works the barriers at Leeds...Over a month later with Northern claiming they were aware of this issue and it was being looked into, still the same issue this weekend just gone
Hartlepool is on the list to get barriers next
I can't offhand think of any other station with an hourly service that has ticket gates.
Presumably the GC issue will be overcome by holding would-be boarders on the unpaid side until the departure before has left, then release them. I'm presuming similar is enacted at Bratfud Interchange and Halifax?
Edit - Or Kings Cross!
I am about to arrive at a station with an hourly service and ticket gates - King's Lynn.

Deansgate is planned to close after Oxford Road is rebuilt so no point in installing barriers.
Do you have a source for that? The process of closing a station is a very costly process which is why many stations end up with a token service rather than the station being closed. I certainly can't see closing Deansgate being objection free considering it's currently the only place you can interchange between Metrolink and most stations served by the Manchester Oxford Rd to Lime Street stoppers.
Should have remembered that, I was there last month Not that they were much use then, as they were open when my train arrived, and open again about 90 minutes later when I departed on the train after.
Warrington Central should be the easiest one of all then! One entrance and high fare evasion to/from Birchwood in particular.

Sod getting off at Oxford Road and having to walk back to Deansgate for the Metrolink.
All of the works to change Oxford Rd and build the new platforms at Piccadilly are currently on hold / in the process of being cancelled so dont hold your breath about Deansgate closing any time soon.
I work at Birchwood quite often and am very much looking forward to these barriers going up. There are alot that simply refuse to pay and walk out, what can you do?
