The original plan was for all the Northern 156s to have the Ironing board style seats fitted. Both the Porterbrook and Angel units that Northern operate have not had them fitted whilst been refurbished. The Porterbrook ones have had new seat cushions fitted mind.

Be interesting to see what Northern do with it then, considering it's interior is much older than on the other Northern 156s and Scotrail did a complete internal refit on the 156s they are keeping.

Apparently they're getting new seating, although I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

The five transferring are all Angel units. Northern's other Angel sets were all PRM'ed at Glasgow, with some receiving other internal 'refresh' work there, with others done at LNWR Crewe, IIRC. Perhaps the same will happen with these sets, with any re-seating or full refresh/refurb being done at Crewe? The Porterbrook ones done at Wolverton have not received new seats or frames, just the cushions for sure?

156447, 156485, 156465 running to Heaton today according to a post on the scot-rail forum.

...or not.

Unplanned stop in the loop at Carstairs after picking up a 21 minute delay between Law Junction and Carluke. Now in the Glasgow bound platform at Carstairs - presumably returning to Corkerhill.

Posts elsewhere mention a fire on one of the sets.

Clearly ScotRail have recently given them plenty of rigorous maintenance recently and arranged for the cream of the crop to be delivered to Northern!

Thanks. I was wondering whether it would be back for the new timetable. Obviously not.

As far as I know, it's been repainted but the interior isn't finished yet.

We could do with the 333 programme getting a bit of a wiggle on, the 321/2s are really struggling and this morning a 150 crept through Shipley on it's way to Bradford Forster Square on an ECS move, presumably to cover the diagram that is usually set for a 3 car 144 whilst the 333s get their refurb.

Oof, that's not good. A 3-car 144 is a poor sub for a 333 at anything close to peak, never mind a 2-car 150!

One of the three has caught fire apparently. First 465 then 485 was mentioned. So who knows now?

Small fire reported to be on 485, however it was put out pretty quickly by the automatic fire bottles on said unit. As a result, 447,485, 465 then returned to Mossend, while 449 ran straight to Kilmarnock.

Meanwhile and more successfully (and to time) 158786,868,782 have transferred down to Neville Hill today from Haymarket on this move.

That's what I thought! It passed through Shipley as 5S02 - 06:08 Leeds-Bradford FS EDS, to start work as 2S02 - 06:41 Bradford FS-Skipton. And it looks like it lost a fair bit of time having left Bradford on time but arriving at Skipton 6 late (down from 8 at Cononley). I've been expecting to see more DMUs creeping onto Aire & Wharfe services with the 333 refurbs underway & the 321/2s shaking themselves to pieces. Could be an interesting winter if 3 & even 2 car DMU formations find themselves on the busiest peak services (indeed I've a sneaky feeling someone has already seen this!). The sooner the 333s are done the better!

158782 definitely at NL with 786 and 868. I passed them at Church Fenton on my way to York and they were just arriving at NL as I passed on the way back. For the record 786 was on the front, 782 at the back with 868 sandwiched in between.

That path was in on Saturday so it could be the remaining 156, or even 1 of the 3 additional 158 units as only 2 of the remaining 3 were seen at Haymarket unless the other was in shed at Haymarket

The 3 from yesterday are still in Mossend Yard

The 150 & 156 fleet are no longer getting new seats, only new cushions and covers. The 158 fleet are getting new seats.

I've heard that the ex ScotRail 156s are getting new seats, although we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

I don't think it's been mentioned yet but 150220 is currently having WiFi and charging points fitted.

Always the way I think, even in steam days. Sheds never willingly parted with their best locos.
