We were reminded again this morning on local radio that trains will stop running from Nottingham railway station for 6 weeks from 20th July during a major revamp of track and signals.
The plans seem to be that passengers will be bused to/from East Midlands Parkway for London services and also the Norwich to Liverpool service will be diverted to stop at East Midlands Parkway.
It seems that a few services from Leicester and Derby will start/terminate at Beeston on the outskirts of Nottingham and that services from Leeds will probably start/terminate at Alfreton all with bus connections.
Services from the east will run into Nottingham during part of the blockade but on some days will start/terminate at Newark or Grantham.
No decisions seem yet to have been made as to what is going to happen to the Mansfield/Worksop services. Has anyone any inside information about what may be happen to Mansfield/Worksop services.
For example are there likely to be any trains or bus connections from Hucknall (north of Nottingham) for passengers travelling northwards to Mansfield or even further afield via Worksop?
The reason I ask is, although it's over 6 months away I already know that I will have to make a return journey to Lancashire on 2 days during the Nottingham blockade to/from Hucknall where I would normally change at Worksop, Sheffield and Leeds, splitting my ticket at Sheffield.
If there is no way of getting north from Hucknall and I have to go on buses via Nottingham and Alfreton will the normally cheaper, via Worksop ticket, still be available as it will not be my fault that there are no trains by that route?
