possibly a tree or something? but hopefully its just superficial so shouldn't take to long175005 has just gone into Crewe with a chunk of front facia around the buffer missing. A bit of work for the Alstom team.
I wasn't suggesting that was the case. There was no specified time and the 175 could've been left in Crewe or into another Depot, hence my question. You wouldn't see a set involved in an incident like that in the morning out in service later the same day.

My apologies, looking back I realise I misread the meaning of your post.I wasn't suggesting that was the case. There was no specified time and the 175 could've been left in Crewe or into another Depot, hence my question.
The only 2 which havent been out the last few days are 829 and 839 so its one of those 2. At a guess its 839 though as its longer since thats been out.Great stuff, who’s next do you reckon
150236 is the first of the 150s to begin its refurb. Should emerge in approx 3 weeks in TfW interior and exterior.
Excellent. I imagine 150s (especially the interior) will look like smart little metro trains when in TfW’s livery.150236 is the first of the 150s to begin its refurb. Should emerge in approx 3 weeks in TfW interior and exterior.
cant wait to see it these trains really did need it being so heavily used across the networkExcellent. I imagine 150s (especially the interior) will look like smart little metro trains when in TfW’s livery.

Yes 150s were an improvement on Derbys and Met Camms 35 years ago, but the industry has moved on.
Metro services should be electric these days.
175105 is allocated to that tonightLooks like there Is a 3B75 from Chester to Widnes tonight so another 175 off for refurbishment which must mean 175104 is back
A sensible idea. Permanently coupled to another 153 with a modified toilet, there won’t be a need for one - thus keeping space for more seats. It's been confirmed in RAIL magazine what was first published in Modern Railways in late December, that TfW are to keep on & PRM modify 9 of the 'temporary' 153s it took on last year. This piece says it'll be the 5 ex-GA and 4 ex-EMR 153s, but the toilets won't be modified, so I assume they'll be permanently locked or taken out.

But it doesn't really help in terms of day to day operation. The 153/9 must run attached to something else and that will still be the case after the refurb.A sensible idea. Permanently coupled to another 153 with a modified toilet, there won’t be a need for one - thus keeping space for more seats.

I'm not disputing that but the refurb won't make any difference to their ability to replace Pacers. Currently there are some diagrams for single 153s, on the Heart of Wales for example. There is plenty of 2 Car work they can do

It does buy time though - it means the non PRM 153s can stay in service beyond May without getting further extensions. But it doesn't really help in terms of day to day operation. The 153/9 must run attached to something else and that will still be the case after the refurb.
I’m well aware of that. But it doesn't really help in terms of day to day operation. The 153/9 must run attached to something else and that will still be the case after the refurb.
Yes, the Shrewsbury to Crewe local and the Blaenau Ffestiniog Branch (Post Covid) are also singles.
They’re dreadful aren’t they?It does buy time though - it means the non PRM 153s can stay in service beyond May without getting further extensions.
It might also help address the shocking condition the ex Anglia 153s arrived in - they are a world apart from the rest of the fleet.
