To the casual observer, eg me, it finally feels as though it's a now rare thing to stumble across red seat covers in a 450.
A good amount of 159s have it now, quite a few. I’d say at least three quarters of the dash 0s, if not more.It is really rare to find any trains with the new livery.
I once saw a class 158 strippy colour.
Yes, I was on a pair of 450s (112 and 117) about 4 weeks ago and they were both fully refurbishedTo the casual observer, eg me, it finally feels as though it's a now rare thing to stumble across red seat covers in a 450.
You said 450013 was done then but it's being done again?
Sounds about right given the slow pace! I wonder if that means that the repaints won't now commence until next year either.I asked the fleet service manager (who was the guard) , he said deadline for the Desiro referb is now January!
On the Portsmouth line, I feel like we still see a significant number more Red seats than Blue - same on the 444s. Wondering if unrefurbished units are being focused on Fratton? To the casual observer, eg me, it finally feels as though it's a now rare thing to stumble across red seat covers in a 450.
I would presume the Desiro repaints will occur only when the internal work is complete, so unfortunately they will probably start next year, which is a shame because the Desiro paintwork is really dirty now; particularly the 444s.Sounds about right given the slow pace! They probably need as many of the trains as possible to run the timetable in the absence of the expected number of 442sIs there a reason why the interiors are being done first as I would have thought it would be quicker and easier to do exterior work so it would be done first, this does seam to be the case with most other operators such as the WMR 172's.
Contractual arrangements. The WMR 172s are maintained by WMR in-house at Tyseley, while the SWR Desiros are maintained by Siemens at Northam. Northam doesn't have revinyling facilities, while Tyseley does.Is there a reason why the interiors are being done first as I would have thought it would be quicker and easier to do exterior work so it would be done first, this does seam to be the case with most other operators such as the WMR 172's.
Where will the SWR units be done then?Contractual arrangements. The WMR 172s are maintained by WMR in-house at Tyseley, while the SWR Desiros are maintained by Siemens at Northam. Northam doesn't have revinyling facilities, while Tyseley does.
Northam isn’t big enough to do the interior modifications either, which is why that work is done at Eastleigh. I think the Desiros will ultimately have at least a properly repainted base colour, and I expect that will probably happen at Bournemouth depot, where there’s a modern paint facility.Contractual arrangements. Weren't the 442s repainted into base grey at Bournemouth?Northam isn’t big enough to do the interior modifications either, which is why that work is done at Eastleigh. I think so, yes.Weren't the 442s repainted into base grey at Bournemouth?
SWR have stated that they will be painted, not vinyled, ie same as the 158/9s.Contractual arrangements. The WMR 172s are maintained by WMR in-house at Tyseley, while the SWR Desiros are maintained by Siemens at Northam. Northam doesn't have revinyling facilities, while Tyseley does.
Makes more sense, given that this is essentially the Desiros' mid-life overhaul.SWR have stated that they will be painted, not vinyled, ie same as the 158/9s.
Ta for the update; any news on what went up to replace it?159017 has returned to Salisbury today.
I think it was just a mistake of WVL14 - I think he/she meant to say 450031 instead of 450123.So is 450031 still undergoing referbishment as I thought it was due out today?
