I am NOT being sarcastic. TPEx have lost the plot and deserve the sort of media vilification that Northern get. They are beyond the pail.

How many sets from Monday? If four this week, should surely be 6 or 8 next week?

The full timetable between Liverpool and Edinburgh won’t be running as all the Nova 1s aren’t ready for service yet. A few services a day will be running from next week on this timetable which should all be Nova 1s though. Not sure about anything else at this stage.

802219 currently on the 1709 York to Liverpool (9M14) being held here due to no guard. Apparently ETD is 1730.

Amusingly most folk have decided to ram themselves onto the 1723 Airport while the carriage in here is maybe 1/5 full.

Will the 0919 ex. York be the first ECML Nova 1 service? Was just hoping to be on it tomorrow.

You mean the first TPE service to Edinburgh? RTT suggests that the empty stock comes from Doncaster Carr so there would seem to be a good chance that it is a 802.

Yeah that's what I mean, supposed to be just stops at Morpeth and Edinburgh after it hits Newcastle. If so it should be the first TPE up the East Coast north of Newcastle, and hopefully I can be on it :)

TPE has worked between Newcastle and Edinburgh before a few times, when the WCML route was closed for engineering work (185s of course).
But yes, the first regular service is today.
The first through ECML service from Liverpool left Lime St at 0812.
The first Liverpool-Glasgow (WCML) leaves at 1012.

802219 is on 9S08 0812 Liverpool to Edinburgh today in grey livery

It reached Edinburgh 15 down at 1313 after being delayed in the north east.
The parallel first Liverpool-Glasgow reached its destination only a few minutes later at 1319, despite leaving Liverpool 2 hours later than the ECML service, at 1012.
I don't know if this was a Nova service or not.

The RTT listing also says the Liverpool-Edinburgh is pathed on diesel from Lime St, switching to electric at York.
Presumably in reality it would use electric to Manchester Victoria and switch to diesel there.

At home or at the pub
I caught one today 15.41 Newton Le Willows to Liverpool[should have started at Edinburgh but started at Newcastle] which was delayed by 10 minutes, my thoughts, i sat in a bay of 2, great legroom, nice wide seats, but seats themselves felt rock hard not going to be great if traveling for more than 90 minutes, would have been nicer if they had more padding

I've not had the pleasure of having a 802 yet but like the 397s they both do look amazing can't wait to have one for haulage.

So there are meant to be 7 booked diagrams but only 4 are operating? just clarifying. So when 7 are out we know we are getting near the plan.

Just spotted one going over the chord from Piccadilly towards Victoria from my office window. Are the Airport-Newcastle services actually going to see more Nova 1s soon or will it take an age for them to come in to service?

Also, how many diagrams are required for Liverpool-Edinburgh and Manchester Airport-Newcastle?

I think 802207 has failed enroute from Newcastle to Manchester and has been taken out of service at York.

No driver forward from Man Vic apparently, couldn't terminate there due to the turnback being occupied by a 319 (for 8 hours, who thought planning that was a good idea?), and there being no driver available to shunt elsewhere from Vic

No wonder the railway is screwed. No driver at Man Vic so passengers are turfed off a Newcastle - Manchester at York and we’re presumably significantly delayed. So why didn’t the original driver just continue on beyond Vic? Or someone get the unit moved? No doubt someone will start screaming ‘route knowledge’ or ‘duty hours / rest’ or ‘rulebook’ but you know what: I worked for a UK airline for nine years and when the proverbial brown stuff really hit the fan most aircrew did what it took to get the punters where they needed to go, even if it meant having to fudge the figures a bit after the event.

It was a case of drivers hours, and fudging figures tends to end up with someone getting the sack these days, given the amount of monitoring done, fudging them isn't exactly easy either.

The crew may have been required to work another service, or perhaps they had finished their duty and just wanted to go home, which is their right.

Also, how many diagrams are required for Liverpool-Edinburgh and Manchester Airport-Newcastle?

Even with full introduction it looked (from RTT) as if there was one 185 diagram retained on Manchester Airport to Newcastle so the answer is 16 - 10 diagrams on Liverpool to Edinburgh and 6 on Manchester Airport to Newcastle. 2 start at Craigentinny, 7 at Heaton, 4 at Edge Hill, 2 at Doncaster Carr and 1 at York.

It will clearly be a few months before they run all of this.
