It could be the interior, or it could also be the removal of the yellow-ended gangway connection which (as much of the forum will attest) sits fairly awkwardly with the rest of the livery.

It's probably that 373 is purely vinyl over the top of the old grey, whereas the newer ones are either whole bodyside vinyl or painted first (I don't know which).

I think someone further up said 374 and 375 have yellow end gangways as well so probably going to keep them based on that.

On the subject of interior refresh, what is the standard interior refurb for a Desiro now? I gather the 185 interiors (same seats) have kind of set the standard for the seating fabrics now with the leather effect head rest panel at the top of the seats and leather seats in first? Aren't SWR doing a very similar thing with their Desiro interiors re leather effect head rest and leather seats in first? Could this be the standard Siemens refit now, to that spec, with that potentially being offered to LNR for their units?

Excuse the low clarity. Little play around, just shows what can be done to make this livery look even better imo...

Having seen one of the 350/2s this afternoon I can confirm the brand sticker is the wrong colour. Unlike the LM livery the window band is pure black (not charcoal), but the sticker is charcoal, the same as those applied over the LM brand. Quite shoddy and totally negating the point of bothering.

Perhaps they are were left over charcoal coloured stickers from the LM/LNR transition livery applications?

That's more than likely the case, since they look pretty similar from the photos I've seen. I doubt the average joe is going to mind the slight difference between a matte sticker and a glossy paint in all honesty. As long as the train is clean enough and runs on time, everyone's happy.

Then why bother revinylling them at all? They looked fine in LM colours with the sticker. This sloppiness just gives a poor impression of the company (to be fair, just the same as pretty much every single piece of slapdash "publicity" they have lobbed out so far; it astonishes me that their publicity person is so willing to put his name to such an amateurish setup quite so widely - and he is *very* public about it).

If you're going to do the job, do it properly.

Love how they’re wasting money on trains leaving the franchise in 2 years. Wish they used the money on improving services instead of what their trains look like

It's a tiny part of a franchise's budget. If they undertook to never relivery a single train I doubt that'd save enough money for even minor service improvements, notwithstanding the fact that improvements and the entire financial plan of the franchise are pretty much established before it's even awarded.

Presumably it may have been in the franchise agreement that any LM style branding was removed from the bulk of trains within a certain timeframe. The 225s were always leaving VTEC but they still completely revinyled them. It may also be part of their marketing strategy to make clear that no LM is left type thing?

Service improvements of course are always welcomed but they can't do much now that the DFT has imposed no new timetable in December. So that was taken out of their hands so branding is practically the only creative new thing they can reasonably do at present by the looks of it.

I suppose in some ways they've fallen on very tough luck because they've launched their franchise and people are wondering what drastic changes there will be for passengers. A much improved timetable was speculated and people would have known LM was gone and LNR had arrived. But I suppose passengers will be waiting until next spring to see big changes now, expect for the relivering of course.

This being the case, they could perhaps have spent just a little on stickers that actually match the colour of the window surrounds, or if that wasn't viable done the window surrounds in charcoal!

As it is it just looks horribly cheap.

Note: when I told a little'un relative of mine that the stickers he put all over his text book looked good, I meant it! :D
