Hi.

I've just seen a full WSMR set head towards Birmingham. I was on a 153/150 combo that had to wait for it before Dorridge station.

Any ideas where it's heading?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks,
Ryan (in Brum for the week!)

I've found out from someone at the station that Chiltern are testing it for LHCS between Marylebone and Birmingham.

Didn't take any photos on my phone, I'll upload the ones off my camera onto my Flickr later.

Any idea how soon these extra services with loco and DVT would be operational, are they likely to run these at peak times like the existing ones.

There's a set of workings that have been reported in another thread on this forum, though I cannot vouch for their authenticity:

0546 Moor St - Marylebone,
0620 Moor St - Marylebone,
0850 Marylebone - Snow Hill,
1112 Snow Hill - Marylebone,
1630 Marylebone - Moor St,
1704 Marylebone - Stratford Upon Avon,
1932 Stratford Upon Avon - Marylebone,
2220 Marylebone - Moor St

Of these, the current workings are the 05:46 Moor St-Marylebone and 16:30 Marylebone-Moor St.

I believe this was a training run rather than in service.

Chiltern said on their twitter feed a couple of weeks back that all ex-WSMR stock would now be used by them now.. makes sense to use it rather than let it sit in a siding all day!

Different! Was thinking about how effective a LHCS to Stratford would be the other day - Perhaps id be abit better suited to having 1 service to london in the morning & one return in the evening though?

Just seen the stock, at one end is 67015. It is sat in one of the new bay platforms at Birmingham Moor Street.

I saw a WSMR DVT at Brush Loughborough yesterday. Also present were a Mk4 coach and DVT in new East Coast livery and an EWS liveried 67.

No it was all WSMR stuff but in need of a washing plant!!!!

I saw it also, and was wondering what it was doing there. Perhaps it was there ready for an early morning Chiltern Railways service from Kidderminster to London Marylebone? Sometimes, there is the odd Chiltern Railways class 168 plonked in the sidings sometimes when I pass, so it could be that, seeing as Chiltern and W&SMR are/were (in the case of W&S) owned by the same company, aren't they?

Cheers,

Nyall

Tis the Chiltern Driver training train, should be about all week from Monday, stabling at Moor Street Mon-Wed then Stourbridge Thurs, returning to Wembley Friday lunchtime.

Saw 67001, the Blue and Grey Mk3 set, and the Chiltern liveried DVT in Marylebone this morning as i left on the 0820.
Be pretty peeved if this ran the 0850. Would have waited around if this was the case.

On a seperate note, Chilterns timetable was slightly out with the type of trains today. 0820 should have been a Clubman, but ended up being a 165.

Went out early this morning, Monday 7th March, in the hopes of seeing 1H09, 06:20 from Birmingham Moor Street, worked by LHCS...

1H06 passed Princes Risborough on time at 07:06, now worked by a set facing the other way, 82303 leading the five coach WSMR set with two WSMR 67s on the rear. The rear one was 67014, the other may have been 67015 but I'm not certain.

1H08 arrived at Princes Risborough at 07:29 and departed at 07:31, 67001 leading six blue/grey Mk.3s and 82302 on the rear. Adrian Shooter was on the train, perhaps enjoying a bit of loco haulage. The lady guard seemed to be a bit apprehensive about having him on board when I mentioned it to her!

1H09 duly appeared at 07:38 but was worked by 168 001, so it would seem no extra LHCS in use today, unless one of the 67s seen on 1H06 picks up the diagram later.

Cheers, Geoff

Hi 1R46 16.30 was LHCS and was 67012 nad 82305 this will for the 05.46 Moor Street to Marylebone tomorrow, there was another set in the sidings at Moor Street I belive for driver training, didn't see what set it was, there was also the 6 car set in Wembley this afternoon with 67001 on the front.

I am not sure but I think there are only 2 LHCS daily 1 from Moor Street and a return from Marylebone.

Have they reconfigured/cobbled the WSMR livery rake to be all Standard (ie mixed and matched from the previous formations)?

They've split up one of the four WSMR sets (set 4) and added a TSO to each of the other three sets. There is still a first class/buffet vehicle in each set, plus a spare one out of use from the disbanded set. The Chiltern "Banbury" LHCC set has also been reformed to rid it of the last Virgin liveried coach. It is now all blue & grey (apart from the DVT).
The DVT from the disbanded WRMR set (82304) is at Doncaster having a generator/compressor set installed. If successful this will be done to the other DVTs. The idea is to provide electric and air supply to the stock when it is stabled without having to keep the loco running which tends to generate complaints from locals, especially at Wembley.

Wrexham & Shropshire rake sitting in one of the bays at Moor Street at half 9 this morning, presumably driver training again. Anyone know which 67+DVT it is? Looked like a 67 with a fairly long name, I would have wandered over to have a look if I hadn’t been in a hurry to get to work.

If it was seen on Friday 4th then it was a rail blue charter using the cargo-d mark 2 and 3 set. Some of the coaches may have had wsmr writing but they were all blue and grey stock. Nothing to do with ATW.
