Shippea Hill and Eccles Road ?
Alright then, Addiscombe.
Also replaced, albeit by Tramlink.
Debateable, bearing in mind the distance between Addiscombe tram stop and the former railway station.
Do we really need St Margarets (London)? It's so close to Twickenham they may as well just extend TWI's platforms.
Elsewhere, I would have said one of the Abercynon stations - but er, Network Rail beat me to it. By a few years.
The Addiscombe rail branch was specifically closed to make way for the Addiscombe tram line. That's a replacement in my book.
Likewise the Exeter St Davids - Barnstaple line (which we discussed earlier this year, I believe).
As it did for Paul Simon as well.....:cry:
Wrexham Central....whats the point....100yard walk!
Also replaced, albeit by Tramlink.
All intermediate stations between Purley and London Bridge (including East Croydon).
All intermediate stations between Purley and Clapham Junction.
All intermediate stations between Purley and Gatwick Airport...can you see a pattern here?
Dullingham, on the Cambridge to Ipswich Line.
It was indeed, but the tram line makes a considerable deviation from the branch route before the previous terminus. Needless to say, it doesn't count as a replacement in my book I'm afraid.

Couldn't you say the same about North Sheen though? At least SMG doesn't have a level crossing.
In all honesty I have often wondered why either exists.

Barnes Bridge and Barnes is another one, why not just have Barnes, most of the stops on the Hounslow loop are so close together anyways!
Why don't they just have continuous platforms all along the Hounslow loop and have the trains moving constantly along them at 34 mph with the doors open? (Would probably make the journeys faster, too ).
The gradients and curves involved mean that reversing is unavoidable, agree about closing Coombe Junction though, there is very little point in the station itself.Another one I would suggest is Coombe Junction. Why can't they straight-line that stretch? It wouldn't exactly cost a fortune, and it would save money on maintaining the token system in place.
Dullingham is relatively well used and am told more trains would call if it weren't for the tight timings over the singled stretches.
