I believe it's valid to Croy, so you could get an Edinburgh to Glasgow shuttle to Croy if a 365 worked it, currently an 8-car 365 set seems to be operating the XX:30 departures from each end which are non-stop Glasgow Queen Street to Croy. A short trip admittedly, but about the only way I can think of getting a 365 on a roundabout ticket.
They are indeed valid to Croy - SPT have a map on their website showing the validity.

Thanks for that hexagon789, I will try to do a couple of trips out to Croy and hopefully get some 365s for haulage. Do they work on the Cumbernauld line?

Thanks for the link to the Roundabout map mde. I'm hoping to get some 365s in the morning and in the afternoon I want to do some new shacks out of Glasgow central and get some more miles on 314s while I still can. So the map will be very useful.

Most welcome! Remember and do the subway if you get the chance - the rolling stock is due for replacement in the next year or two (replacing 1970s Met-Camm stock with Stadler)

No unfortunately, that would be 320/318s as far as Cumbernauld and presently mainly 156/158 (some 170s) beyond to Falkirk Grahamston.

Thanks hexagon 789. I've not been to Cumbernauld for a while and I thought the the line from there to Falkirk Grahamston was now electrified.

Cumbernauld - Falkirk G has wires which are live, however the current timetable has a DMU being used on those services (Edinburgh - Falkirk G).

Anyone know if Scotrail plan to hold on to any of the 365s past May when they are due back? And will they now be on different lines now that more of the 385s are appearing on the E-G?

As I understand, by next month all E-G will be 385. The 365s will be used to supplement these on the SDA, Cumbernauld, and, later, Shotts. But by May all the 385s will have been delivered, so I see no reason why they would have any use for them. Apart from the Ayr line, all the 'old' electric routes are designed around 3/6 car trains, so the 365 is unsuitable.

Actually I suspect that they won't be needed on Shotts. It will be easier to keep them on services out of QS.

Of course, a number of services will temporarily get 4coach sets until the rebuilding of QS is complete and they can operate 8coach trains on the E-G.

I believe it’s only (mainly) the Edinburgh-Dunblane service that will use the 365s. Glasgow-Alloa and Cumbernauld services should be exclusively 385.

Gone back to Diesel units then?

They only used 380s to free up diesels during the Open for strengthened/extra Carnoustie services I believe. I have seen several Grahamston-Glasgow service since and they have all been diesels, a mix of 156/158/170s.

I suspect the line via Shotts will get EMUs once the wires are authorised for passenger use, just to free up some DMUs with the EMUs running to existing DMU timings

Oh right, I thought they'd made at least one diagram electric.

They mix in with Anniesland, Alloa/Stirling and Dundee semi-fast diagrams so it would be hard, I’m not sure how they did it during the open.

That makes sense then, I had thought the Falkirk Grahamstons were captive.

I'm surprised they haven't kept the 314s going and used the 380s freed up by the Ayr hotel fiasco to work this line.

314s are still in daily service - do you mean moving to a full 314 service down there and shifting units around?

The locals would have a fit… despite the 314s being workhorses they are hated by many (shame really).

It’s not a particularly busy line, and is only 1tph, which is probably why. That and the fact it interworks with a lot of diesel diagrams.

No I meant keep the 314s on the Gourock line and use the spare 380s to run Queen St to Falkirk Grahamston.

And yes I agree the moaning from people on the Gourock line is a bit over the top, especially regarding breakdowns. On average, a Gourock commuter could expect about two failures per year. Bearing in mind that a "failure" is any delay over three minutes, that's hardly the end of the world. The GWR HSTs have a similar failure rate but in 20 years I cannot recall a complete failure on any journey that I've made on them.

It's getting Wi Fi and a new compressor. 529 was stopped for a while for the same and 523 replaced it .It's only been a couple of weeks.

Anyone know what's wrong with 365523? It looks like it's been dumped at Shields Depot for a good couple of months now.
It’s basically being used as a spare parts train I believe until they are able to able to get all the components ordered that have been robbed off it.

Maybe they were waiting for some Black Friday deals on parts. ;)

What's been going on with the 365s recently? Majority of services running 365s are either shortformed or running 170s instead?
