    SWR- Depot Driver- Wimbledon (07/06/21)

I know from experience that depot driver applications normally involve a bit of narrative otherwise I would have jumped on it at 6pm.

    SWR- Depot Driver- Wimbledon (07/06/21)

Tried to start it at 10pm last night to no avail.

    Standard Passes no lives left?

I can see how I could have been missing the point that the 2 Hand is testing more than co-ordination but what if a candidate displays such a high standard of co-ordination that there is not much scope for improvement on successive attempts. Actually brings to mind a Psychology practical lesson I...

    Standard Passes no lives left?

I think I am going to be somewhat controversial with my post today. Supposing the OP is required to resit his assessments by some other TOC in two years time with the aim of passing to national standard, and he scores in the region of 25 to 27 succesful answers on the TRP part 2, which I am...

    TPE trainee drivers

Not me, I stumbled at the joystick test because my pass mark was not high enough for their enhanced standard. I have been trying for Scarborough driver for years. Best part about it, I live within walking distance of the station, in fact it is sometimes possible to hear the class 68s from my place.

    SWR Guards Recruitment 2021

GWR, not SWR, have a Fratton conductor vacancy online, if that is what you saw.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

As the class 458s are going to be re-geared for 100mph operation again, it suggests to me that the trains will be used on the semi-fast services where the stops will be at platforms which can accommodate 12 carriages, Fratton being the possible exception. If the guard despatches from a cab...

Class 442s - Now at the end of the road and to be withdrawn permanently

Not sure if this has been pointed out already but I imagine that at the time the decisions was made to refurbish the class 442 fleet, the refurbishment of the class 458 fleet was not an option as the introduction of the new class 701 replacement fleet was too far on the horizon. I understand...

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

Should have thought of Freightliner especially as I have been through the process with them before.

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

Same goes for Scarborough really, just that there is not the same volume of rail traffic in Scarborough, might have been different in years gone by before they disposed of half the platforms in Scarborough station. DRS and Northern seem to be the key players in Carlisle.

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

It is not a rural area but a town on the coast. In 9 years, I have known a trainee driver vacancy at Scarborogh become available twice and there is nothing quite within a one hour radius. One hour of Leeds is an interesting one, how many of those areas are within one hour once you factor in rush...

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

Yes, it is a numbers game. If I stay put, I will surely reach retirement age before I find paid employment on the railway. I would say that unless I moved to Leeds, the odds would not be in my favour, and to be quite frank, I am sure there are plenty of other places which would be promising.

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

I live in Yorkshire too and I consider it nearly impossible to find a train driving position in the locality. I cannot wait to pack my bags so I can start a new life as soon as.

    Mmi

Very dark place to be in. I was there myself in 2013 but thankfully my lives were reset afterwards, but I did not know that at the time. I would have thought the assessors could at least tell you which test you failed. If not, I would be getting in touch with the TOC to which you applied...

    Mmi

Something rings a bell about that SJE question about the angry boss not wearing a seat belt but it is over a year since I last had a train driver assessment bar the MMI. It makes me wonder if it would be easier to record the MMI rather than having to write copious notes. I am surprised with...
