    London Buses Discussion

Would this be why I've seen a number of route 200s with their number on a piece of paper stuck to the outside of the destination board on the bus?

    SWR New announcements

They seem to be on the 455s now - took me by surprise when I heard them the other day! Find it odd that they've taken the effort to replace them on a stock that (in theory at least!) will be replaced in the next couple of years.

[Trivia] How many stations? And when does one station become two?

Devil's Advocate for a moment, with that reasoning you could argue that Waterloo is two stations given that the W&C has no behind-the-barrier link with the Bakerloo, Northern, or Jubilee lines. I am of course not being completely serious there - in fact, I'd argue a case for the 'East' to be...

    Circle line station announcements

    Pardon my ignorance, but SX?

Where are the London fare zones measured from?

Interesting map. Seems that Hammersmith & Fulham is the only borough that is solely within one zone (Z2) - although there might be a bit of Z3 where it meets Ealing and Brent boroughs (difficult to see if there's any yellow there or whether it's just the image compression)

    Prettiest Stations in the UK

I used to work in the building next to the Shard, and some of the winter evening views over the station were great. I thought I had one which had the Shard in it as well, but couldn't find it so you'll have to make do with this photo instead...

Doors opened on platform 7 at Guildford

This is going to sound like a stupid question (because, let's face it, it is a stupid question!), but do modern units have the ability to open both sides of doors at the same time? Or is there some sort of interlocking that prevents this? I expect that in no small part, the dispatch procedure...

The London Underground 'Network of Track'

I appreciate how Wity you are being.

What does -ISO mean on the railway?

You say that, but during major disruption (the heavy windstorm a few months back for example), I did see - amongst all the TREEs and NOGOs - an ITS- -ALL F%KD (my censoring)...

    "The next stop will be..."

If we're adding needless pedantry... "Welcome aboard the Southern service to London Victoria." So this is the only one is it? "... this Southern service..." is what it should be.

Marsh Barton Railway Station Exeter - Construction

Just thinking, this gives Exeter nine stations - St Davids, Central, St James' Park, Pinhoe, Digby & Sowton, St Thomas, Polesole Bridge, Newcourt, and now Marsh Barton. Not bad for what is a relatively small city!

Armed Forces to the Coronation by Train

Nothing showing on RTT - shame, but not necessarily surprising! (Slightly disappointed that I'm not in work today as Waterloo is my commute - but it'd be absolute (but organised) chaos I expect!)

Trivia- most circuitous route between closest stations.

St Budeaux Ferry Road and St Budeaux Victoria Road maybe on a closeness:route mileage ratio

Trivia: Stations on four track line but only the middle two tracks have platforms.

You might be able to include Queenstown Road Battersea in this if you're not limited to just a 4-track railway.

    Season tickets on Oyster

... So, did you miss the bit where I said I visited three stations (well, two ticket offices), asked for what I wanted, and was turned away?

    Season tickets on Oyster

Yeah, that's what I've done, and to be fair the process wasn't difficult to do. But the point is shouldn't it be possible to be able to do this at a station? Or - as it was only a year ago - via a third party retailer that chances are a vast majority of companies use for their rail travel...

    Season tickets on Oyster

Interesting, the email I received from thetrainline said: "The Rail Delivery Group have withdrawn the option for paper season travelcards for exclusive travel within the London zones from June 2022. As such, we are unable to process your order." (I mistakenly said ATOC in my original post)...

    Season tickets on Oyster

Before I get into this, be aware that this is a vent as much as anything else, and there's a TL;DR at the bottom. So. Back in March, my annual Z1-6 season ticket, on an Oyster card, purchased through a work season ticket loan scheme, which runs via thetrainline*, ended. On reapplying for it...

Lack of road bridges on LSWR Lines compared to LBSCR Lines

There are another two bridges between the A240 and A2043 ones; both are now pedestrian only but at least one was originally a road bridge (Dewsbury Gardens, between Stoneleigh and Worcester Park) - I think the one the other side of Stoneleigh might have been too, but it's a bit more difficult to...

    Musical subway and footbridge.

Not necessarily out of copyright. The composition itself might well be, but the recordings most likely will still be in copyright and chances are the PPL and PRS licences will still have to be paid.
