Finally - they should of been built like this from the beginning - it's only took the best part of 30 years for it to become reality...
The entire Irish Rail Intercity Mark 3 fleet had power doors. They probably wouldn't have been RVAR-compliant disabled friendly however.
The set underwent a period of ghost running on the Chiltern line between Wembley and Birmingham Moor Street from Monday 14th May to Friday 25th May, during which the set was formed with the loco at the London end and the DVT at the "country" end as per usual. It was only turned, and the entire rake has been turned so that the "Business zone" vehicle still matches up against the DVT, prior to the last day of these trials, so Doncaster had nothing to do with it in this case.I would guess the set has been turned on the triangle at the back of Doncasters wabtec works/west yard lines as I often see the odd DVT and other things going round there so that they are facing the right way, of course they may only have switched the DVT and the 67, but if everything has been turned it would have been done one coach at a time due to length restrictions.
Hope This Helps Chris

I vaugly recall a post on this or another fourm saying it was off to get a generator fitted, and possibly to get a repaint at the same time.Does anyone know where 82302 is. It was the only DVT ever painted into Chiltern blue.
How did it come to get painted into Chiltern blue during Wrexham and Shropshire times as it was never then used for Chiltern?
I think the original reason was that it was to be the first DVT used on Chiltern services, although in the end we know that Wrexham and Shropshire donated their entire fleet, so I presume it then made more sense to stick with their livery.
DB Regio awarded a contract to Wabtec Rail Ltd of Doncaster to comprehensively refurbish a total of 20 Mk III cars. The aim is to have all four rakes in service by December.
Railway Gazette International was told that the next steps were likely to be adding a sixth car to each rake, and then producing a fifth rake to provide heavy maintenance cover.
Does Chiltern have the existing Mk3s "in stock" to extend the conversion to another 10 Cars?
Arriva has just let it be known they are looking to lease an additional 13 diesel locomotives for Chiltern.
