Agreed. Seems they gone for more 8 cars. Perhaps that's in reaction to tying to run all Victoria peak outer services as 12 cars means they need the stock there now?

Desperately needed to extend many Victoria Trains that are still 8 car

There was 377704 on the 2M59 1807 South Croydon to Watford Junction.

Failure was on 2O23 0813 Milton Keynes Central to South Croydon (This service was cancelled between North Pole Signal Vc818 and South Croydon due to a problem with the train (M6).)
Which resulted in its return service being cancelled throughout: 2M33 1007 South Croydon to Milton Keynes Central
Which in turn caused the 2O35 1113 Milton Keynes Central to South Croydon to start at Clapham Junction

And again today:

377623+377707 2A12 0502 London Victoria to Brighton

with convenient unadvertised stop at Redhill. The pair should work Brighton services all day.

Also got 377708 from Clapham Junction yesterday evening on the 2248 Watford Junction to Selhurst thanks to a posting elsewhere.

Oh yes I did. I did actually see the train but with busy so couldn't ride it. Doubt it'll be the last time.

A 377/7 has failed this afternoon working 2O51 1513 Milton Keynes Central to East Croydon (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W61941/2014/07/21/advanced).

It was rescued by another 377, which had to be terminated at Tring.

From the messages I saw the unit that was sent from Tring couldn't couple to the failure so was run round to get to the other end and wouldn't couple there either so another 377 was terminated at Watford and sent to rescue it.

As an aside presently on 377707 working the 20:15 coulsdon south to victoria (unsure where it actually started) paired with 377601.

I was on 377 703 (I think) coupled to a four car 377 doing a London Bridge to West Croydon via Sydenham service today. Its not often I see them coupled to older units.

That's a common working for a 377/7 coupled to a four car unit. The following are all booked for an 8-car 377/2. One of the units is often a /7 leading to a 9-car formation.

2U55 1706 London Bridge-West Croydon
1G54 1742 West Croydon-London Bridge
2U71 1806 London Bridge-West Croydon

So it might or should change to 377/7 very soon?

Maybe. The general plan I'd hear was ad hoc diagramming until Dec but that wasn't confirmed. May be connected to final changes next month on WLL/WCML services.

That makes sense. It actually went down from 10 to 8 carriages from May being booked for an 8-car 377/2. Does seem to be a 9-car fairly often at the moment. Was 377701+377406 when I caught it recently.

377701 was with a /6 on the 05:52 victoria-horsham this morning. It seemed to have a bit of a software glitch where it announced 'this is coach 1 of 1' and 'this is coach 11 of 10' at the same time, the 1 of 1 was quite quiet and the 11 of 10 was almost seemed like shouted over the top of it. It seemed to do it inall of the coaches.

To be fair, most 377s seem to have a software glitch. I had a 4 car Yesterday that announced the same thing twice at every stop, then as it interrupted itself the coach number would play 4 times. :!:

Ah ok, Well I believe it was meant to run as 2x5 cars today but due to a fault it's gonna be 5 vice 10! Now just to find out whether it'll be a /6 or a /7!

Can't wait. Should be fun at London Bridge.

This morning the 05:25 Balham to Milton Keynes Central failed at North Pole, just past Shepherds bush, the unit had problems changing to AC! Luckily it got moving after 30mins or so, still very shoddy for such new Trains though! A similar fate happened to the same train yesterday, it got stuck at Clapham Junction with the driver unable to take power! Not sure of the unit numbers though.

Believe it was same unit both days.

So was this.

That seems right as I seem to recall observing those two diagrams (pairs) were regularly producing pairs of 377/6s when the first 377/6s arrived back in the Winter. As more diagrams came into fruition I guessed these two diagrams above provided nice compact workings that did not stray far from Selhurst where the units could return easily for fixes. So they would be ideal for further newly delivered (5-car) units to bed in.
