This was a tough one; they're all really good in their own right. for me it was between 2,3 and 5. I picked 5 due to it's superb angle and scenery as well as the tunnel itself being quite unusual and different somehow. (Probably due to the surrounding geography)

Im going for #1........just look at the quality of that brickwork..........6 brick low aspect arch built on a skew of approx 10 ft.........its a sheer work of art with what looks like a suspended axial arch growing out of top right corner. It has to be the winner IMHO....! Just that train in the way spoiling the shot !!

By the way, when does a long bridge become a tunnel...............??

7 and 9 have the most atmosphere IMO, although 2 & 5 also have plenty of points of interest. I've voted for number 7; impressive!

Almost missed this one due to getting back from a weeks holiday a little late. Had to make a quick decision as to what to post - looking at the competition,I may have chosen wrongly.

2 here, the small size of the tunnel compared to the landscape shows just what it must have taken to build

Call this biased if you will, but given I loved it out there I wanted to vote Irish! 5 is the better option, so I have chosen it.

If in 13 150001 is just emerging from the tunnel, how come there is no driver in it?

The driver's hidden behind the window pillar between the second and third cab windows (looking from the left), surely.

I thought number 4 didn't comply with the entry rules as you couldn't have stations in tunnels :|

Well, only the second time I entered and I won! I've only just found the comp.

In case anyone is wondering, I took the shot while on a photocharter, so I had permission to be in the tunnel.

I hope no-one minds my turntables choice. There are still quite a few about.

Are any [turntables] left on the mainline network, or close by? Could be a wee bit snookered here... Didcot Railway Centre here I come!

I know I'm going to struggle, although I might have just found some photos that I could choose from. Don't know the locations of many these days, aside from Minehead and Kidderminster.

Some depots have retained them for rotating HST power cars and the like; such as Heaton and Neville Hill, and of course Old Oak Common must have one of the most photographed turntables in existance. There's not much chance of gaining access to any of those locations easily though, and I can't think of any in the vicinity of stations on the national network off the top of my head.

I think I already know which shot I'll be entering for competition 524, so I'm sorted!

Well done to willig on your well deserved victory this week, yours' was the photo I voted for.
