Come 1700ish (depending on shift change), the signallers would go home, all the signals would revert to danger, and your traincrews would be stranded in the arse end of nowhere.
The signallers would really just go home and leave everyone there?

Total nonsense. If that is the case, why have they timed the strike at a point when the railway is at its busiest, when people are returning from a bank holiday weekend?
or it could be at danger because the box is being worked by a manager who doesn't know how to clear the signal
If I did get "stranded" and the signal was red. Knowing that there is a strike can I then say that the box is closed, check the points and pass the signal at danger...
Industrial Action: 25 - 26 May 2015
INFORMATION:
There will be no Virgin Trains services running on either Monday 25 or Tuesday 26 May. This is the result of a strike called by members of the RMT & TSSA unions that work for track and infrastructure operator Network Rail on these dates.
Am I right that the strike means that signallers who are booked to sign on between 1700 Monday and 1700 on Tuesday wont be in.
So if a signaller is due to book on at 1400 and is due to finish at 2200 they will work normally on the Monday but wont be in at all on the Tuesday.
Crosscountry said:Members of the RMT and TSSA Unions that work for track and infrastructure operator Network Rail have announced that they are planning to take industrial action on Bank Holiday Monday 25 May and Tuesday 26 May.
Talks are currently underway with all those involved and we are hopeful that a resolution can be found. However, should the action go ahead it is likely to cause significant disruption to rail services on both days.
Disruption will vary by route and CrossCountry will only be able to operate the following revised timetable. Please note this information could change so customers are advised to check their journey details carefully.

That seems a very poor effort from Virgin as during the last series of strikes in 1994 BR did manage to run at least a few Inter City West Coast services
Virgin Trains said:Spring bank holiday improvements
Major improvement works along the West Coast Mainline are taking place during the Spring bank holiday weekend.
We'd hate for you to get caught in these improvement works, so if you are travelling between Saturday 23 and Monday 25 May 2015, please check before you travel.
The improvements will be taking place between the following stations on our route:
Milton Keynes Central and Rugby
Birmingham New Street
Wolverhampton and Stafford
Stafford and Crewe
Crewe and Carlisle
Carlisle and Edinburgh or Glasgow
These closures will affect some of our trains. There will be extended journeys and possibly rail replacements coaches, particularly between Crewe and Scotland. So, you'll need to plan carefully and allow longer to get to your destination if you choose to travel.
Please check timetables and routes (see section below) before you travel.
