They just want to see that you have showed a bit of Interest in them, don't need to give tons of numbers/details. Just say Gtr caters for 30/35% of all passenger journeys in UK. Plus those gn routes and all will be good on that front.

See thats where I am confused lol but if you passed it should be ok but I read go ahead as a whole caters for 35% but gtr on its own is 22% but if you said 35% I shall go with it mate lool

No probs buddy yeah much easier to remember along with the class 313,365 and 387's they use, when's your DMI again?

Its a week today mate
What about the 717 train they are bringing in for gn on the welwyn side. I have been learning a bit about the thameslink programme as some people have said they have been asked about that as it is why they are taking on so many new drivers. Also rebuilding london bridge etc. Perhaps I am overthinking it all and maybe it depends on which interviewers you get I dont want to waffle on about too much but I dont want to get caught out not saying too much mate

I did get asked the question why the need for new drivers that's where the fleet upgrade and Thameslink fit in again the were happy with that, only spoke about what I know about GTR for 2mins it doesn't go towards the marks like the other questions so no need to overboard mate.

Btw I really appreciate all the advice mate a big drink as long as your not about to drive a train lol or a big coffee and cake if our paths cross buddy

@Baz962

Just remember that it's not a memory exercise; don't simply go into the DMI reciting every fact and figure you could find. You clearly have a great memory!
Make sure you understand and digest the information you're memorising rather than quote Wikipedia or the GTR website word-for-word.
Remember, they want to know if you're train driver material so just be yourself and give them answers that confirm your ability to drive a train.

Can I just confirm that you get a combination of STAR examples style questions and general ones during the DMI. Got mine in a couple of weeks and starting to brick
it now.

After what seemed like waiting an eternity for, I had my DMI on Tuesday and was called the following day to say I was successful. Over the moon!

However, as the Ashford depot isn't near opening yet I was told there would be no start date till the new year and that no more courses are being booked for the remainder of this year.

One of the managers said at the interview that they are really up against it to deliver the number of drivers needed for the Thameslink project completion of December 2018 and that they've asked Southeastern for help training the new recruits.

Thanks to all that have posted tips and positive stuff on here. It all helped.

Buzzing!!! :D

Still got standards to uphold regardless of whether they are struggling or not.

No doubt but all I'm saying is they aren't going to lower the standards just because they are short of drivers

Hi guys.

GTR courses for the southern depots are on hold until next year it seems. Are the northern depots still running courses for the remainder of 2017?

Much to my surprise I passed the DMI which was a huge relief but now have the MMI to tackle. From what I understand you get questioned about the six examples given earlier at the assessment day but I wondered if anyone can tell me of anything else that has or may be come up. I've already had one strike so really don't want to mess this up. Any help much appreciated.

Congrats on passing the dmi mate. I've got mine coming up in 2 weeks. Wondering if you could give me any advise/info of what's to expect in the interview. I.e. What sort of questions do they ask? And did you go into loads of detail about the company?

Many Thanks
