It is on the Penzance / country end, it is booked to work 1300 Paddington - Bristol Temple Meads at the moment but this may change if necessary.

Thanks again....he will be thrilled! (And I will be happy too!)

Has nobody noticed yet that 43002's livery isn't quite right?

The 'InterCity 125' lettering on the side should have black fill, not blue.
This was a result of the original plan for yellow/black livery being changed to yellow/blue.
The lettering vinyls had already been made up according to the original plan and rather than scrap them and print off new ones, the GW powercars originally had the black fill. The colour of the GW ones gradually changed to blue as they received overhauls and repaints.
The ER ones (and poss some of the later GW original batch ones) were delivered with blue fill to the lettering IIRC.

Anyone wishing to photograph 43027 it will be leading / London end of 1100 Penzance - Paddington or on the back of 1706 Paddington - Plymouth. The workings are as at present and are subject to change.

Do we know if 43002 or any of the other special livery locos will be in the Reading area at all between 3pm and 6pm? I'm heading down that way and I'd like to grab it if I can!

I'd heard about this before, but I don't think many people know, or care. It looks fine.

Of note, 43037 now has a black roof instead of the standard FGW blue.

Hopefully that means we'll be seeing an intercity swallow powercar.

If we are going to be EXACT on livery as first in service, no orange cantrail stripe and whats those red and silver things doing on the side....... .

Happy with what we have.

43185 has been repainted into the original 1988 Intercity Swallow Livery.

It will make its first public appearance at an event at the NRM (along with 43002)

Nice to see this has happened as many speculated.
Looking forward to seeing it on me mainline!

Thanks,
Ross

Which Intercity livery is it?
Yellow fronted all the way round and sides
or
with the red stripe across the front?

Thanks,
Ross

The latter, as that is the 'Swallow' livery; the former was known as the 'Executive' scheme.

Ah brilliant, great to see one of the former Laira depot 'pets' from that era receiving this treatment. :)
