I might have a fight on my hands!
Very daft laddy question... I take it Mallard was shunted into position for these shots? Can Mallard run under its own steam?
Shunted by top and tailed 66's.
Can Mallard run under its own steam?
NRM surely? No she's not cleared to steam at all and the NYMR have always demurred on the basis of cost (stung by Flying Scotsman I guess) and preserving her as is rather than stripping loads of bits out to bring her back into service. Particularly when there are other A4s in steaming condition and mainline certified.
Top and tail because of reversing needed to get from the NRM to the station?Shunted by top and tailed 66's.
Yes of course. I have absolutely no idea why I typed that!NRM surely?

Thanks for the photos. "Mallard" ended up adjacent to an LNER HST before being shunted back round to NRM: It's strange to think that there's the same 40 year age gap between "Mallard" and the HST, and the HST and an Azuma!Fingers crossed
Pictures below of ‘Press Launch’ of Azuma at York today. Nice that the public view was actually a better light

https://flic.kr/p/2gGRp6z 800101 is, alas, in standard LNER livery. The picture in the link shows it making a rare venture outside at Doncaster Carr IEP Depot.
Yes, several reversals. York NRM to York Siemens, reverse, through the station to York Holgate Loop, reverse, then into platform 7 (which faces south and not a through road).Top and tail because of reversing needed to get from the NRM to the station?
You are welcome, I’m pleased that you like the pictures. Quite so about the nose ends. Pic below of Mallard with 43305, Azuma launch branding in the background. Thanks for the photos. It's interesting to reflect on how long distance UK rail traction has developed: From streamlined steam, to high performance fixed formation diesel, to underfloor engined diesel/electric hybrid.

Ah yes, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. They travelled on the run to Berwick as well, playing their first ever gig at 125mph - appropriately enough in Coach C for "Chilli"!I happened to be there also. Was a lot of pomp and ceremony , including the rock band with the bag pipes , who were excellent, lots of members of the Scottish parliament and dignatriess and tv cameras. Was quite a big deal this it Waverly this morning
I happened to be there also.
Was this last night, or this morning? I gather there was a wee party of sorts this morning.
I don't think that there's any 125 between Waverley and Berwick!
My guess is on uniforms worn by LNER's Scotland-based staff, although it's possible their English staff may be able to order a tie or similar item in the tartan if they wish.So where will we find this "Official LNER tartan" aside from the vinyl temporarily adorning the coach side?
They could take inspiration from the APT-P trains and introduce it as their new seat moquette. So where will we find this "Official LNER tartan" aside from the vinyl temporarily adorning the coach side?

Bang on time as well!
