I have a nice trip out on Thursday which should add 241 miles on to my total, not much compared to some but enough.

Finally worked mine out up to 28/05 at 8311 miles, all leisure mainly with the odd commuting trip. It has taken a while but will have quite a few more to add over the next week!

Regarding my Non-Date: It's for the best that we didn't meet. I discovered on Friday evening that she can be very shallow (but then, she's an Essex Girl so I should have known better; anyone suggesting I'm stereotyping here should remember that I grew up in Southend)! Also, why is 110mi too far?

Anyway, I am currently just shy of 8,000. Disappointed to have fallen to 455driver - especially considering he lives in the same area as my father! - but that's the way this competition has gone for me of late. Still, I will be verging on the 8,000 mark this time next week, so I can't complain; after all, I must have done more in 2010 than 1989-2009 combined - several times! (Just checked the table... 15th. Ouch.)

It will be standing still due to SCH :(:!:

As we were rather curious what worked the spin 'n' win 1520 Westbury to Exeter St Davids (Fridays Only) working this afternoon, a quick spin to Westbury was deemed to be required. So now sitting on another 8.08 miles from that, the grand total for the year (although it needs investigating for accuracy) is now reported to be 7,808 miles.

It was going to be vastly increased tomorrow, however GC jacked up their fares by a significant amount, so I'm staying indoors to avoid hayfever attacks :|

[insert expletive here]

I am literally 12mi short of 8,000 (well, 12mi 2ch) now, so all I need is a cheap single journey to Severn Beach from Temple Meads, et voila!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I can't seem to access the Mileage Engine site. I have now cleared the 8,000 mark, but I don't know how easily! Is anyone else having this problem? (P.S.: I didn't go to Severn Beach.)

No problems accessing my RailMiles account, could have been a temporary server issue?

I still can't access it...

I finally got round to using the Melksham route, passing the 8,000 mark in the process, only to have the site not want to work on my laptop! D'oh!

Give it another try later or something, I've had problems with the mileage engine not working/appearing for me before now, however it was simply due to bugs being fixed.

Well done passing 8,000. Still 17 miles behind you (or more, depending on how far past 8k you are) though.

From memory, Chippenham to Trowbridge via Melksham is a little over 11 miles if that helps at all.

It did look to be about 11 to be fair, which really annoyed me because my original plan was to go by bus to Trowbridge (264/265) and from Chippenham (231/232) - when I was 12 (and a tiny bit) short! Ah well, £4.10 for a "return from Bath to Melksham" - also known as passing straight through Melksham! - isn't bad is it?

I shall have to estimate the other two as well, because I have somehow never boarded or alighted at Chippenham or Trowbridge before!

My (estimated) total is now 8,025.

Thanku ;)

If you want, PM me your moves and I'll see what mileage I have on record for them. Mind, I could always give you the decimalised mileage I've got off CORE for some Wiltshire/Avon moves:

Bristol to Bath - 11.48
Bath to Chippenham - 12.94
Chippenham to Swindon - 16.66
Bath to Trowbridge - 12.74
Trowbridge to Westbury - 4.04

Hope those might be useful!

Also, £4.10 Bath to Melksham? Cheaper than Trowbridge to Bath (about £6 return IIRC)!

It's all right, it's working now. Thanks for the offer though ;)

My estimate of 8,025 is less than half a mile out. It is actually 8,025-37.

As for the price, I noticed that as well. It is with a Railcard to be fair, but even then the difference is a mere 20p (£3.90 to Trowbridge). Chippenham is a bit steeper; it costs just under £3 with a Railcard, but still! Given the minimal bus service to Melksham, FGW could actually find themselves in a half-decent position by introducing a better service, but then Worst run the bus service as well...

P.S.: Trowbridge to Chippenham is 11-65. Which is a right pain, because it would have left me less than 400m to go to get to 8,000mi!

I've increased mine after a return trip from Bristol to Norwich and over 90 miles whilst helping out on the annual summer passenger count on the Severn Beach Line!

I see the top 2 leaders have some impressive mileages.

First place has 2,003,410 miles  Thats about 9,000 miles a day including weekends or a mere 374 miles an hour if you were travelling 24 hours a day.

Second place is only 200,000 but that is still nearly a 1,000 miles a day.
