16.00 1A93 is on an IET diagram (2x 802 5car)
16.57 1A96 is on an HST diagram.

Usual disclaimer: Traction may differ on the day due to unit availability or operational requirements.

Wonderful thanks! I promise I won't sue if I get an IET when it should be a HST

On weekdays I think the 08.22 Paddington - Hereford and 12.09 Hereford - Paddington are still fairly consistent (although the latter is a poor timekeeper) along with the set that stables overnight at Hereford, the 19.22 from Paddington and 04.47 from Hereford. Of course next week there is a major block on the Cotswolds so everything will be different

The 08.22/12.09 is still a fair bet, though the diagram currently involves sending an HST empty all the way from Bristol to Oxford first thing in the morning, but IETs have put in the odd appearance at least as far back as June - picture by Martin Loader

On Saturdays (e.g 16/06) the 08.22 has been an IET for quite some time, but it's far less common on weekdays. At one point the 08.22 was formed off the 05.15 Bristol - Paddington via B&H and during at least one of the Newbury blockade weeks (when this train didn't run) the 08.22 was indeed booked for an IET but that was the exception rather than the rule. I don't expect it will survive as an HST for very much longer though!

Hello captain, would you if you could say if the Hereford Padds are solid 800s on Saturdays please

On Saturdays there are very few Herefords that are not IET, nor many Cotswold trains for that matter. The 06.47 Hereford - Paddington is an HST because that is the set that stables at Hereford overnight Friday to Saturday. I think last Saturday the 16.22 Paddington - Hereford and 20.20 Hereford - Paddington was HST. But as mentioned earlier the line between Moreton in Marsh to Worcester is shut from 17/11 - 25/11 and I wouldn't dream of speculating about what may or may not be IET or HST for so far in to the future as 26/11.

Nothing on the Cotswold Line is likely to survive as an HST from Monday, December 10, and in the couple of weeks until that date on the other side of the blockade, I can't see anything other than the remaining handful of services mentioned above seeing an HST. Even some of those may succumb before the 10th if more nine-car IETs are passed for passenger use.

Changes of type of rolling stock on the route in recent weeks have all been one way, HST to IET.

So let me get this straight, this would be:

1A75 0505 PNZ-PAD 1001
1A77 0541 PNZ-PAD 1121
1A79 0647 PNZ-PAD 1221
1A81 0741 PNZ-PAD 1314
1A82 0900 PNZ-PAD 1400

and then following these through:

(1A75) --> 1C78 1103 PAD-PLY 1421 --> 1A91 1500 PLY-PAD 1816
(1A77) --> 1C80 1203 PAD-PNZ 1709
(1A79) --> 1C82 1303 PAD-PLY 1618 --> 1A96 1657 PLY-PAD 2036
(1A81) --> 1C84 1403 PAD-PNZ 1932
(1A82) --> 1C86 1503 PAD-PNZ 2040

Others which have been mentioned:

1A71 0451 PLY-PAD 0837 -->1C74 0903 PAD-PLY 1219 --> 1A87 1255 PLY-PAD 1621 --> 1C90 1703 PAD-PNZ 2225
1A73 0529 PLY-PAD 0922 -->1C76 1003 PAD-PNZ 1511 --> 1A97 1600 PNZ-PAD 2122
1A85 1000 PNZ-PAD 1521 --> 1C88 1603 PAD-PNZ 2129

How much of this is wrong?

(Not sure about some of the deductions as to which services form part of the same diagram since RTT seems to show the great big hand in the sky shunting at Paddington.)

What about the 1C77 10.33 PAD - PGN 13.52 ( Torbay Express ) ?

Thanks for the updates, gents. The first post was last updated 2nd Nov... are a lot more likely to have gone over to IETs since?
I'm interested in the Cotswold line or Worcester on weekdays.

Watch out for the 07:45, 08:45, 09:45 and 10:45 Paddington to Swansea services being HST this coming Saturday, amongst other unusual occurrences. Moreton-in-Marsh terminations have provided lots of opportunities for "interesting" diagrams, due to the lack of Cotswold runs and the requirement to not overfill Old Oak Common during the day.

1C04 Paddington to Penzance and return reverts to HST next week as well.

What unusual occurrences ?

Booked diagrams torn up and started from scratch pretty much, due to Moreton-in-Marsh terminations and Filton Bank block. "Unusual" as in, several services on the Bristol / Swansea corridor that have been rock solid IET in previous weeks become HST for the day on Saturday. Obviously that means that some booked HST work has moved to IET as well.

One thing not to worry about: Don't go for any of the South Wales rugby additionals. All booked IETs.

Useful gen thanks - shame I'm working on Saturday but may manage a trip on 1C04 for old times sake next week.

They would have to change the diagrams so that a set would have to do something like SPM - Hereford - Paddington - Hereford - SPM, which is unlikely so I agree that the Cotswolds line will be solidly IETs after the 10/12.

Heading down to the B&H's this Saturday (it's supposed to be sunny?!?), so hopefully not too many services are yet in the hands of the 802's???

Any details of 1A80 PNZ-PAD on a Saturday?

Last week there was mention of "no coach H or J available" on the platform (obvious sign of IET diagrams) and then a HST (thank god) showed up. What are the chances of an 802 tomorrow if diagrams are already shown as IETs?

If I was a betting man, I'd say that the following diagram will remain HST beyond the 10/12:

PM - WSM
0620 WSM - PAD 0844
0930 PAD - BRI 1109
1200 BRI - PAD 1337
1415 PAD - CDF 1622
1656 CDF - PAD 1907
1930 PAD - WSM 2151
2210 WSM - PM

Obviously I don't know for definate, but due to late deliveries of IETs and the need to vacate OO and LE, then it seems logical.
