So how do we get the free tickets?

Free tickets are available on the website right now, it is on one of the screens that is sliding round.

Managed to get two returns from Edinburgh to Aberdeen for May and June

You can claim two returns for free.

You must agree to recieve news and offers both by email and post in order to claim your free travel. Great way to build the mailing list, Abellio!

Booked my free return from Edinburgh to Inverness :D

What is the new franchise's website address? If you Google 'Scotrail' the top results are for scotrail.co.uk which I presume is First's old website as when you click on the link it says 'website not available. However if you Google 'Abellio Scotrail' (which would not be a natural search route for members of the public anyway) the main links take you to the Scotrail franchise description page within Abellio's corporate website, but no indication of the customer facing website.

Managed to get 2 off peak returns to Inverness in May on the nth attempt.

Great offer, but the way all the fields (departure station, destination station, number of tickets, month and date) reset after an unsuccessful attempt is a pain.

AIUI, the website domain name is 'owned' by the government not the franchise holder.

Typing in the URL, searching for it via Google and clicking on it on my shortcuts all take me to the same place which works for me.

A pretty uninspiring choice of free trips from our local station. Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow. That's yer lot.

I see that the new 'Club 50' will require an annual subscription.

Got a nice wee toffee biscuit with a flyer about free tickets at Inverness this morning. Not checked the site but from Thurso my freebie will probably get me to Georgemas or Wick

just to be clear, people are moaning about the choice of journeys available using completely free tickets?

Interesting Launch Speech from Abellio CEO with news on the planned steam programme:

Thinking back to the event in Waverley on 8th October, my strongest memory was
the enormous interest in our plans for tourism and steam trains.

So in May we will launch ScotRail’s new and significantly enhanced tourist offer,
known as the Great Scenic Railway Journeys of Scotland.
This will promote tourism on Scotland’s five most scenic lines to visitors from
across the world, and we look forward to revealing more soon.

This increased focus on tourism will prepare the way for the launch of the Borders
Railway on 4th September 2015, and the first ScotRail passenger services starting
on 6th September.
We look forward with huge anticipation to welcoming the Borders Railway into the
ScotRail family and will celebrate this with a programme of steam services to
promote tourism on this exciting new railway.

A steam service will operate between Edinburgh and Tweedbank three times a
week on a Wednesday, a Thursday and a Sunday for the first six weeks of
operations. And the magical sight of steam will be seen across the whole of Scotland
with our plans for five other steam trains on scenic routes between June and
September this year.

Tickets for these steam services can be booked now on ScotRail’s new website.

There was lots of mainline stations on offer this morning. Aberdeen, Inverness and Ayr to name a few.

My first Abellio journey has us sitting at Ardgay for 15 minutes, but I've been delayed in places with worse views before!

I don't know why that's flipped

I thought the Abellio brand would be mostly hidden from view and occasionally referred to. No, just as bad as before with the TOC brand everywhere.
