They must of questioned it unless they would get a slap on the wrist eh

ScotRail crews can work Northern 156s without having to question anything. Dumfries crews get them fairly regularly for various reasons.

Is there any news on the 156 refurbs? I know there was an issue with the seat height/tables wasn’t there?

A lot of the units seem to have had all the other work done, internal repaint, carpet, hand poles etc but still have the old seats.

Also does anyone know which unit(s) are away for refurb (or at least part of it!) at the moment?

I'm not sure as there aren't as many 156's on the GLQ-DBL services since the December timetable change. a single 170 is a bit of a backwards step from 2 x 156's in the peak alas.

Fully competed are now 510,430,494 and latest 504. The rest will gain their new seats shortly.

Yeah I had 504 yesterday and 510 today. 510 seemed to have different colour panels to the rest of the refurbs though, was that the first? I assume they changed it for the rest?!

Does anyone know which ones are likely to be transferred to Northern yet?

The ones transferring aren't having DAS fitted so take your pick from those ones. Appears to be mainly the WHL sets not getting done at the moment.

I've seen 320315 in passenger service at Bridgeton this morning. Interiors are now in Scotrail colours the same as Class 320/4 units.
No pics of the interior yet, but it is basically the same as Class 320/4 except retaining glass overhead racks and paintings at the end of the carriage.

About time ... Not sure why they were only kitted out with the prm basics when they were externally repainted

As much as I hated the Haymarket 158s before the refurb, they’re actually very comfy now, if they had more legroom they would be excellent!

That’s interesting regarding drivers passed on 320s as the reason given for deploying extra 314s on Inverclyde routes to cover the 380s on Edinburgh-Glasgow was that 320s couldn’t be used as Gourock drivers no longer sign 318s/320s. Instead the 320s went on the Cathcart Circle and 314s moved from there to the Inverclydes.

Thats what i thought , must of changed recently . Im sure the 320s dont go up the Neilston Branch . The 318s have been making appearences on Newtons though not sure about Neilstons . I wonder if 334s are still cleared for cathcart circle and inverclyde services .

334s still have Route Clearance for Inverclyde and the Circle (including Neilston) but the issue would be driver traction knowledge. I ended up having to divert a 334 off a Larkhall into Central High Level a few months ago and ScotRail struggled to get someone to shift it for a couple of hours afterwards, eventually they sent a spare Motherwell man through.

I have a feeling that 318s/320s are not cleared to Neilston - certainly only seen them subbing for 314s on Newtons and Cathcart Cicles from what I remember. I wonder if the sighting recently of a 320 on Gourocks was simply a one-off - they will be cleared to Gourock as they are equivalent to 318s I believe, so if the rostered driver was also competent on 320s you'd be OK as a one-off straight-forward round-trip with the same driver? Different kettle of fish to rostering them regularly and running the risk of a driver (eg from Gourock) who didn't sign them coming across one unexpectedly so to speak?

Currently none of the diagrams booked for a 320 include Gourock runs but they can and do go there. I queried the issue of whether Gourock drivers sign 320s before Christmas when one had been stepped up to cover for a failed 314 on a 2Gxx but was assured that they all sign them.

The Route Clearance tables show 314/318/320/334/380 are cleared to Neilston with no restrictions.
