Unfortunately, they are not all strengthened - the 0830, for example, remains as four cars all the way to London Bridge and is very full when it leaves Redhill. The same applies to the 0937, which is not a peak train, but still leaves Redhill full to standing quite often.

Absolutely - let's either have a proper first class policy or none at all - the present regime is a complete mess.

I can see why 1st Class is declassified on metro as most of the stock doesn't have a 1st Class.
I can imagine the reason 1st Class was retro-fitted / speced (new 377s) was to please the demands of the Coast-City commuters.
If you feel this strongly about the 1st Class being STD on 377s in metro we'll give you 313s and take the 377's back. Enjoy :D

As for train lengths.. where do you propose the trains come from? Will you provide funding?

It seems that they've been built and finished quite quickly! Mind you, there are only 8 of them.

Does anyone know what the interiors will be like?

Like this :D

They are not complaining about FC being standard, they are complaining that the 377/6's FC is exactly the same as standard class. As you mentioned before, they were retro-fitted so that if they needed to be used for mainline services (and I believe there are no timetabled mainline workings) they have 1st, so the argument is pointless.

Aye but the 377/1+2+3 the FC is exactly the same to.. but you get a little head cover. For commuter trains it doesn't make much difference. 442s FC is very nice tho!

Cheers. I'll have more coming. Perks of working for Bombardier I suppose ;)

Update: 377701 will be out for passenger use end of this month..

You mean customer (Southern) as it needs to be commissioned first and will take awhile longer than 377/6 as it requires AC testing.

Sadly I've forgotten the delivery date I was told in the the class 700 excitement.

AC testing going on here at the Derby test track. I might have gotten my dates wrong, apologies.

A frame from the Pantograph Camera (testing) - :):)

Things change and my date may well have changed but pan testing at Derby isn't anything more than checking it works as you can't do proper testing there. Not sure where the 377/7 will be AC tested but likely tested and as the 377/5 on the WCML.

Nice photo again by the way.

All units need to do fault free mileage which i believe is only possible on mainline due to no major test tracks in the UK?

That picture looks like the wire just goes from the mast in the background to the insulator at the top of the frame. Probably just the darkness though!

No testing at all yet.

Was checking paths last night. DC ones used by the 377/6 are in the system until December. Possible 387 paths.

Presumably these will be used for DC testing the 377/7's as well?

Looks that way as the path exists all the way through to 12/12/14. However there are some variants that don't make sense unless your berthing during the day.

Will they be running as ten car trains on the WLL or will they run just as five car sets?
(If not, I would hope that the /2s would be run as 8cars as the route suffers from severe overcrowding)

Have any been out testing yet? When do they go into Service on the WLL? I've seen work has started at West Brompton to extend the platforms.
