I presume that if there are 2 sets available there would be a full service, and when there is only 1 set trains are caped at York for the return peak run?

A second set is almost available, just need another buffet, and for any little niggles to be sorted! Ideally we want three sets, with one as spare/undergoing maintanance, the sets being rotated regularly.

Also, that's my head out of the buffet car passenger door window!! (I know that because at the end you can hear 57601 in the background once our HST has gone!!)

Ah,but it was me that saw the train away from York, standing at the door of coach B !!;)

Shame indeed Richard, yours truly turned up at Heaton @05.00 to prep the set(CDL etc) and was still there until 12.00pm in the forlorn hope of getting a set out, most disappointed today after last 2 days..:sad:

What was a 57 doing there??? But thinking about it again, i'm not that fussed, the WC livery is abismol, each time they run anything in that horrid livery a kitten dies.

Ta Sir_Clagalot, I'll give it a proper playing later when the link will work and I have earphones plugged in. I can't wait to have a listen!

Has the service been cancelled again? I can't see it mentioned on the live departure boards.

Unfortunately, due to reasons beyond our control, the train was cancelled at the last minute.

That's now two mornings in a row I have got out of bed at 0445 for no reason!

It is really frusutrating, not just for the passengers, but the crews too, as we have worked long and hard for this moment, only to have the service fall flat on its face due to techincal problems, which should get rectified overnight whilst at the depot!

Any goodwill we have managed to build is now rapidly disappearing, which is a shame, as those who have travelled with us have said how impressed they were.

Someone in the industry doesn't like GC, and never will, despite our best efforts

Now, now Clag, lets not get carried away here.
Some faults and failures require proper investigation, and more often than not its sometimes not as simple as overnight.

If it is a PC issue, can one of the other 2 or 3 not be substituted, or is the issue more to do with PC interactions with the carriage stock?

I'll concede you that one DD.
One of the other PCs was substituted, but this was found to have a fault... What can we do???!!!
Up until this point, 43067 & 80 were flyers, performing really well (67 is a right screamer, it's all you can hear in the leading 1st class vehicle!), and to have these setbacks is a kick in the teeth for all those (including those at Heaton) who have worked extremely hard to get the first set ready for service.
These things happen I suppose.

Its unbearable - after all that waiting. I'm SO sympathetic with everyone's efforts being frustrated.
But what ARE the problems?
Will the service run on Saturday, the last day before the break? I couldn't see the train at Heaton this afternoon (but it was getting dark - black train against black background). So will repairs/works continue over the hols to achieve reliability for the resumption next week?

what's happening today? again, it's not on LDB. The GC website wasn't updated until quite late yesterday so that can't be used as a source of info. Do we assume it is or isn't running? hopefully it is.....!

Let me just clarifiy, I wasnt threatened BY the BTP, I was threatened WITH HAVING the BTP called out by a member of station staff at Sunderland. I'm not looking to start a debate really, but I must say, that I have never ever had any negative experiences with the BTP whatsoever and I feel that they do a really good job. Most now utilise the enthusiast community rather than attempt to disrupt it.
