Are the Desiro fleet being refurbished at Eastleigh depot?
It’s Eastleigh Works which is the separate site nearer to the station. It is a Siemens contract, they just rent the space at the works, because Northam is only sized for routine maintenance. Are the Desiro fleet being refurbished at Eastleigh depot?
AIUI yes, when fully refurbished they'll lose their 3+2 seating and become 450/0s again.Seems they’ve not done a 450/5 yet, so is that intentional or just random? Does anyone know if they’ll be renumbered back to their original equivalents?
All 450s have 2+3 seating anyway. Is this changing?AIUI yes, when fully refurbished they'll lose their 3+2 seating and become 450/0s again.
Eh? Surely they get the full 3+2 seating back to be identical to the 450/0s.AIUI yes, when fully refurbished they'll lose their 3+2 seating and become 450/0s again.
My mistake, I was forgetting which of the two subclasses had 3+2 and which didn'tEh? Surely they get the full 3+2 seating back to be identical to the 450/0s.
According to Modern Railways they'll be done once the 450/0 full refurbs have been done, then finally the ones which have received part refurbs.Seems they’ve not done a 450/5 yet, so is that intentional or just random? Does anyone know if they’ll be renumbered back to their original equivalents?
That's very interesting. Also, the March 2019 Modern Railways issue has now come out, does it state anything new about the SWR Desiro refurbishment?According to Modern Railways they'll be done once the 450/0 full refurbs have been done, then finally the ones which have received part refurbs.
Not that I've noticed, although I haven't it read it thoroughly yet. That's very interesting. Also, the March 2019 Modern Railways issue has now come out, does it state anything new about the SWR Desiro refurbishment?
I’d just read it as the maximum load it is suitable for is a laptop. You’re by no means the first to post this query...Why can't the chargers be Used to charge phones?
I believe all SWR trains now have SWR-branded safety information posters, and all Desiro trains now have SWR stickers by the end of each carriageI put a picture up a while back of a poster that was both SWT and SWR branded on 444040.
Was wondering if that was still there, and if any of the other repainted units have the dual posters

The one I saw was the route map - it was in an SWR branded poster, but it mentioned SWT within the map itself. It was the only time I'd been on board that train, and I was pretty much squeezed between people and the bulkhead the whole journey so didn't get to see what else had changed on boardI believe all SWR trains now have SWR-branded safety information posters, and all Desiro trains now have SWR stickers by the end of each carriage
Not all Desiro trains have been refurbished yet, but I thought all of them have now been fully SWR branded(apart from the livery and moquette).
Incidentally, the route maps on the 455s still tell people to change at Waterloo for Eurostar services...!The one I saw was the route map - it was in an SWR branded poster, but it mentioned SWT within the map itself. woah, 8-car 158/159 train?!Saw a 3 unit formation yesterday in Salisbury of 159 in plain new livery, 158 full stripey liverly and 159 stripey only on blue bits. None great but probably the blue with stripes the best.
