Ah but will they though? The Mark 2s used by Greater Anglia are in my opinion, a horrible dirty state. The 769s will be seen as a step down compared to the Mk2 coaches

Top and tailing is glorious - as I discovered in East Anglia
Yes - push-pull if that is the expression lol!
People in glass houses....CDL, ETH? Can we type out these acronyms please?
I can't recall the date that the air con/central door lock mark 2 started on the valleys but I'm fairly sure that non ETH locos worked after that date. I am 100% certain that Virgin Crosscountry used no heat locos of various classes on their trains and the central door locking worked fine all the way from Plymouth or Paignton to Birmingham. It would have to be cancelled wouldn't it?
Surely safety features such as CDL are dependent on ETH?
37422 was. Named Cardiff Canton after its 'overhaul' at the site.I watched a video only recently of that naming taking place at the depot its named after, in 2003 I think it was!

Not sure it will be those ones as TfW are hiring-in 37s from Colas rather than DRS, I'm not sure they'll use DRS coaches. Of course they may well do, but hopefully there's time at least for a refresh - the ones in Anglia Railways colours look really grotty!
They're using Riveria Trains MK2s, which are even worse!

They wouldn't be fitted with CDL...Dont Riviera have some mark 2A (etc) with opening windows?

CDL runs off the batteries, but without ETH you have no battery charging.I can't recall the date that the air con/central door lock mark 2 started on the valleys but I'm fairly sure that non ETH locos worked after that date. whoops! thanks37422 was. Named Cardiff Canton after its 'overhaul' at the site.
Colas Rail's Cardiff Canton is 37254.

Seen today at Canton:

Does the yellow stripe on the rear three carriages indicate first class?

This are only a "scratch" set for training purposes. Riviera stock will be provided for the actual passenger services
What do you do if it's found that the ETH on one of the locos has failed before departure from Rhymney one morning? Run empty and leave people behind with severe overcrowding on following services or run loaded but a bit stuffy?
0724 & 0742 down Rhymney - Cardiff and 1701 and 1731 up Cardiff - Rhymney.
So no top and tailing.
I wonder how passengers will react come January when for 7.5 months they will have had spacious, air conditioned trains for their commute, but in January presumably they'll be getting 769s without air con and cramped 3+2 seating.
The 769s will be seen as a step down compared to the Mk2 coaches
No, nothing on the TfW website and I doubt TfW will be publicly advertising the 37+Mk2 services.Sorry to ask but is their anything on the TfW website about these running as 37's with Mk2's? I don't want to bug them on Twitter via a DM as they may say it's not been confirmed.
Ha,one of the Colas 37s
is named Cardiff Canton.
Doubt that will operate it
being a non ETH one.
Not that we need ETH during
the summer months.
Don't have the timings just yet but 37418 is expected to do a training trip to rhymney tonight
so this is legit then? is the word on the HST use as legit?
this is like some bizarre haiku
