Thanks. I know exactly what you're describing, but didn't know it by name.Sorry, Day job is emissions of slightly smaller things...
DPF you was right, SCR is Selective Catalytic Reduction. The Nox is held onto by the surface of the brick in the cat, when it’s full urea (adblue( is added to the exhaust gasses up stream of the cat, it reacts with the nox via the coatings on the cat and turns it into less harmful compounds.
It sort of surprises me the cab doors are a little more old fashioned, rather than the Bombardier approach of swinging out.
Maybe that's just it... all the recent units have had that sort of door so anything that opens inwards is a little strange.

Amazed to see so many of the new northern units at Wavertree and Allerton, but still not managed to get one in service. Whats the hold up and when can we expect to see passengers on any of the new sets
Well by power of deduction, they must have found a fix. Were the 397's effected? So have the bar couplers been fixed then? Suddenly seems to be plenty of units flying around.

No, I mean the 397's. They were ordered by a different operator so may have been built to a different mechanical spec.I think you meen Class 331!
Totally different electric unit and no problems mentioned on 397 thread. No, I mean the 397's. They were ordered by a different operator so may have been built to a different mechanical spec.
However the 397s were barred from testing due to the bar coupler issue...
Same back cushion on both versions so a retrofit would be possible.Could this more contoured seat cushion be retrofitted to a 700 or are the backs themselves different
Ah great 700s really aren't bad trains with just a few simple fixes requiredSame back cushion on both versions so a retrofit would be possible.
Did it have a lot of underfloor gubbins or very little?Saw a driving vehicle on a lorry heading north up the M5 near Junction 14 around 10.30 yesterday. Didn't see number so could've been a 195 or 331 vehicle.
To be honest couldn't look as was driving south. Not much help I'm afraid!Did it have a lot of underfloor gubbins or very little?
170s don't have gangwaysProbably depends on whether the unit has a Gangway or not. Not much space for an Swing Door, that opens into the cab on modern gangway'd units.
That looks like qute a large step up on to the train there!112 & 113 were out on the tests today
195112 operating 5Z29 1457 Springs Branch Jn to Blackpool North through Wigan North Western
Can I also add170s don't have gangways
Neither do the Networker family!
185s, 360s...
I guess it's just manufacturer preference as well as gangway.
I'm not sure, but I know it's quite a step down from the drivers cab onto the platform, more than from the saloonsThat looks like qute a large step up on to the train there!
I guess nobody knows how "tall" it is?
